Talking online with the lady whose kids I babysat for from when the youngest was 3 until she was 10...still talk to all of them...she just hit me with her husband has a brain tumor, taking over the whole left side of his brain, bigger than a softball....she is fighting the insurance company because they do not cover Sloan Kettering...which is where he will get it done....she said screw it, they want it done ASAP< so she is going to call tomorrow to set it up for him....its a 4/5 hour operation, and he has to be awake during the whole thing....he is nervous, scared, as he!!, as we all are....but he has the top neurologist in the top hospital, so we are confident he will pull thru---but its still scary....VERY SCARY...I will know the date tomorrow I am hoping, but I am scared to death..I love this guy so much like my Father, when I was in a bad car accident 11 yeers ago, he was there (he is an EMT) and he took care of me...this is so scary....Cancer is so scary.....all prayers are asked for in this horrible time...I never knew anyone with such a horrible situation....and they found it at his annual eye doctor appointment, when the doc saw something behind his optical nerve....Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK...I went to NY for the weekend....I got to see him on Sunday....he is in really good spirits, but I could tell he stuttered a little bit....and it frustrates him....but he is thinking positive AND the insurance company called on Friday and said it reversed its decision and they WILL ALLOW HIM TO BE COVERED THERE.....They set the date for July 17ths, but it is subject to be pushed up...apparently his doc was on vacay till today and once his doctor finds out he has the go ahead, he will more than likely push it up. The prayers are helping, girls! It still makes me sad to think of him having to go thru it, but he is in the best place, wth the best neurosurgeon..he is a strong man, and he will pull thru....Keep them all in your prayers, as they do seem to be helping...I love him like I love my own father and we were talking wedding talk yesteday and he kept saying how he loves me just as much as my dad loves me...it was sad to leave, but I know its for the best....gave him a hug and kiss, wished him good luick and told him I would talk to him before he went in!! So keep fingers crossed and prayers coming!! Thanks Girls!!!

I am so sorry to hear about this. I will say a prayer for him too
BTW - Sloan Kettering is an amazing place, my dad recently had prostate cancer surgery and he was treated really well.

My best friend just had a cancerous grade 2 astrocytoma tumor removed from her brain in December and has been doing very well. Keeping a fighting attitude and a strict diet after is so critical in fighting a tumor from coming back!! She had her neurosurgery done at st. vincents and is with sloan for after care. She is absolutely in better condition physically now than she was before! You have my prayers and support!!!! Do you know what grade it is and what kind of tumor? My friend has a ton of knowledge about this now, and I know she would be glad to shatre if you ever need it!

That is amazing about the insurance, from what I understand Sloan very rarely accepts insurance so good job on their part!

OK Girls....Prayers needed again!! He is going to be operated on tomorrow morning at 5 AM....its about 5-6 hours, and he will \be awake throughout the procedure...its about a 5-6 day recovery depending on any kinds of complications, etc....
I wll know tomorrow night when I get home from work how it all goes...so keepp your fingers and toes crossed and prayers in your hearts!! Thanks Girls!
