WR: Please beware girls!! (sorry long)

Original post by Collweenie21

Just wanted to give everyone I speak to a heads up and word of advice.

FH and I have been to about 5 recent weddings. And at 3 of them we've seen incidents of stolen money, swiped gift cards, and stolen purses.

The first time I saw this happen was towards the end of the night when everyone was on the dance floor, my friend went to the table to find her card ripped open and the $200 in cash taken from it. Of course she told the bride who later complained to the BM and of course 'no one in their staff would ever do that!'

The second time it happened to me. At cockatil hour I was catching up with a couple of old friends. I had about 3 plates of food, cause ya know, cocktail hour is the best. I KNOW I had the card under a plate, being cocktail hour was outside and it was a little windy. The busboy came and cleared away the plates, and all of a sudden... the card was missing. I immediately notified the maitre d, and the card was found a half hour later, ripped open in the mens room, with the check still inside since I was smart enough to make it out to the bride.

This past weekend, once again, when everyone was in a second room towards VH at the end of the night, someone stole this girls purse and shawl, and it was found in the mens bathroom.

Sorry this is so long, and I don't mean anything bad by this, but when attending a wedding, please be careful of your things, and take MINIMUM stuff with you. In the future I've decided to mail the bride and groom their gift instead of taking it to the wedding.

ALSO watch what you leave in your car when you valet it, once they stole FH's IPOD from his car

I was a MOH in a wedding where the valet locked my keys in the car while it was running (my sis met me at the hall w/ my car) and then actually came into the reception to get me. Then they asked me if I had AAA so I could get someone to fix the situation. Talk about unprofessional.

Thanks for the heads up. That is seriously so sad and pathetic that a bride and groom need to worry about this stuff on their wedding day. Do any of you have any suggestions/ideas you can share on what to do with the card box? I had planned on leaving it up front in the lobby on one of the tables they provide. Now I know it's a bad idea. Any ideas?

I posted this on this thread but here it is again

WORD OF ADVICE- We heard of this happening so every now and then my parents would clear out the card box and transfer all the cards to a duffle bag that was under the head table and being watched by an Uncle who doesn't dance.

HOLY CRAP THATS FRIGGIN TERRIBLE!!!! Now I know to keep the card box close to me....I'm going to need to assign someone responsible to card duty....

I know even myself I collected cards for Rosella and there were a couple missing....I feel terrible because I was almost positive I had them but sh*t happens......ALWAYS make out checks

OH YEAH!!!- at my eparty one of my stupid cousins left his card with $100 cash in it and it got thrown out! The only way I know this is because FH's cousin lost her wallet and I was looking through some of the garbage bags and came across it....yeah gross but hey- I still got $100 out of the deal

This is soooo horrible and you don't want to have to think about it with all the good wedding stuff, ut unfortunately you have to have a plan

That's terrible!

It's not necessarily the workers - I've heard of a couple of incidents where guests have taken money from the bride and groom!

my fh went to a wedding and they stole ALL THE CARDS FROM THE whole table he was at...this was prior to him and me being together....but it was at an amazing RH too so the place doesnt matter it can happen anywhere....

it definitly is something to think about and deifintly have someone watching the card box...put chains on it to keep anyone from taking it.....
