WR vent! Sooo long, get a coffee and pull up a chair.

WR vent! Sooo long, get a coffee and pull up a chair.

So everyone kept telling me (and us 08 brides who got engaged 06 or sooner) that our long engagement would fly.

Well, it hasn't for me. And I'm mad that I booked everything so quickly. I had all my major vendors booked within 5 months of our engagement.

I feel like the long engagement made me more stressed - I was pulling my hair out for the 9 months - thinking of DIYs, thinking I needed so many little things, thinking how I needed to get vendors booked right away b/c all the good ones would be taken and now I realize it was bull b/c there are SO MANY good vendors, you know?

So anyway my vent is - especially after reading the married brides advice and regrets - is that the little things that usually cause the most stress don't really matter. And MOST of my stress is wedding related and it's unimportant in the grand scheme of things. It won't matter if my flowers are wrong, or if it rains, or if my DJ plays a 'do not play' song, what matters is that Alfonse and I are getting married, starting a new chapter.

And I'm done with thinking about 'we do' letters and cry packs and customized aisle runners and slipper baskets.

Sorry for the long vent, I just needed to get that out. And forget telling friends or family, they're like, whatever Jenn.

So thanks ladies. For being here.

i totally hear you and completely understand and agree. While all the added extras are nice, if it causes stress, it isnt worth it. all that matters is what they day is acutally about and that is that you are marrying the man you love!!!

Awww...... we're all here for you!!!

I thought I'd be so crazy about every little thing, and, I really am not.

All that matters is that I am going to marry the most perfect man in the world for me, and I thank God every day for giving me this opportunity!

Who CARES if things go wrong - they WILL! And, in the end, as long as we stay grounded and realize the true meaning behind it all - we'll be just fine.

i am at a wedding halt...i havent done anything for a month about!!! its cause i dont care about the bubbles for the church, or if i have the we do letters or if i am getting the best favors for my guests...who cares! i am marrying the man i want to be with for the rest of my life- my best friend!!!

but i hope it does fly by for us Jenn cause i am getting anxious i want it to be here already!!!

I was just thinking last night that I really don't care about the wedding anymore. yes we made lots of deposits so we are going to have the wedding, but I just want to be with FH and be married already!! I've been engaged since V-day '06 and I know personally 4 people who have been engaged after me and married before me...

Girls don't be surprised if I go to town hall and just do it before my actual wedding day!!!

Hi,
NW here

Here's the thing: yes, freaking out in an OCD way is not a good idea for your health and yes, the marriage is what's important and is the reason for this 'party' that you're planning

BUT - I believe that a little freaking out is what got me to put together the most amazing day of my life. The little things like cry packs, water bottles, slippers, fans, favors etc...is what my guests still rave about and this is what they will always remember.

So the moral of the story is that it's ok to freak out a little if you'll eventually get what you want because you dont' want to look back and wish you did something (cry packs etc...) that you didn't do.

Freaking out and stressing is a very subjective thing - if you can do it in a healthy way and still put together the best wedding ever - more power to you. I did it - and it truly was the best day of my life.

Yeah we are going to move in together in a few months once I finish school, so maybe we will just do it and then do a vow renewel for the wedding day. Who knows... I'm getting impatient.

Well you are making me feel better. I got engaged in Aug. and I'm getting married in July. I feel overwelmed with everything I have to do, but I guess it gives me less time to nit pick.

Jenn I have been feeling the SAME way!! By the time Brian and I get married, our engagement will almost be 3 years. And like you, I swore I need to book when I did because they wouldn't be available if I waited any longer. For example, I 'NEEDED' to have Velvet Studios. Don't get me wrong, I have no regrets in booking them and am happy I did, but if I waited and didnt, there would've been TP, Blue Daisy, and so many others I could've chosen from.

I love LIW and you girls, but I think its the site that gets us all caught up in the lil things. I love some of the lil things other brides are doing and told FH we NEED to do it too, but we REALLY dont

When we all start to get stressed out about weather and songs and guest lists, I think we all need to think about the man we're marrying and the life that will follow.

I did that a little bit too but at the same time I was bored. It's like I'm engaged and not beign able to do anything. I'm happy with my vendors but my only regret is such a long engagement.

Your totally right - this is my 2nd time around - and i definately think that its not the little things b/c you really wont remember them.

This time - i am leaving out so many things b/c they really dont matter and im just doing what will make us happy. For me that means no special cake cutter, toasting flutes, placecards, etc.
