Wrapping Favors? ....
I was just wondering how everyone was going to wrap their favors or if they had their favors wrapped already, how was it done. I need to wrap a box (figure 6X6) and I'm not sure if I should use an organza ribbon and tie a bow OR satin wrapping and use an already made bow. Do I use plain white or ivory glossy wrapping paper or white glossy wrapping paper with pearlized roses. Plus, I'm not sure if I want jordan almonds. My family all says it's good luck - but who eats the almonds anyway. Just looking for some suggestions and ideas ... Thanks, Cira

Wrapping Favors? ....
I am actually making my own boxes (very easy with a box maker from Michaels) and cutting a slit into the lid and threading a ribbon (about 1') and tying at the top... I never liked jordan almonds and they will not be anywhere near my wedding...luck or not...I never heard someone get a divorce say...we never had jordan almonds!

My coworker had Jordan Almonds...
Her parents insisted because of tradition. She wasn't happy with it at first, BUT was very excited when she found a poem that explained what each 'almond' meant (I believe it's 5 almonds). She put the poem in a scroll and attached it...if you do decide to use them, and if you're interested, I could ask her what it said...Good luck!

I'd like to know what they stand for...
we're having them as well (its my FI's family tradition that his aunt in Italy puts them together), but I didn't know about the symbolism. Thanks

I found this - is it the same poem?
Five candied almonds for each guest to eat To remind us that life is both bitter and sweet. Five wishes they hold for the new man and wife: Health, happiness, wealth, children and a long life!

This is not a poem .. but I found this meaning ...
at weddingzone.com ... Jordan almonds are a traditional wedding favor. The typical way to present these sugarcoated bits of edible symbolism is in sets of three or five. Three almonds are said to stand for bride, groom, and future baby or bride, groom, and Christ. The five almond combination stands for happiness, health, wealth, fertility and longevity. Rich in both taste and cultural meaning, they're commonly found at Italian, Middle Eastern and Greek weddings. Fresh almonds are known for their bittersweet taste, which signifies life. The sugarcoating is added with the hope the couple's married life will be more sweet than bitter. If you choose Jordan almonds as your favor, you may wish to attach a small card, explaining their meaning.

How to give out CD`s as favors
We used CD's as favors for our September wedding. My mother and I wrapped every cd, then tied thin ribbon around each one. Then, we intertwined Jordan Almonds around the ribbon. Because I wanted to include the meaning behind the jordan Almonds, I typed that out on heavy paper, then over that, in sheer paper, I had typed out 'Un Ricordo di Felicita' which means a happy memory in Italian (saw this from a Martha mag). However, at each table, there was one CD that had mine and my husband's name on the sheer paper. Whoever had that CD favor, won the centerpiece.

Rosie B ... what was the poem that you used?
We basically used what LisaT had in her post. The Martha mag was from September 2000, I think but she also had it in 'good things' on her website and in her spring edition for 2001. However, the CD and Jordan Almonds was not in the magazine. It was just the Jordan almonds. She had them displayed in glassine bags. We wrapped 5 in tulle and tied them with a ribbon, which is also where I tied the little poem. If you still need an idea, write to me and I can try and explain it a bit better.

Sorry - I was swamped at work today - if you still want me to ask my coworker about the poem she used, I will...not sure if the one you wrote is the same one (I didn't attend the wedding - she just told me about it)...

Shamma96
I went to a friend's wedding where she gave out cds as favors. On the back of the cd cover she left a space for the name of each guest and their table number. She used these as her place card settings. We picked them up before we went into the reception. Everyone liked the idea because it was different.
