Writing vows......

Writing vows......

So it was my brilliant idea that we should write our own vows..... I have no idea what I'm supposed to write!

Is there a format or something that I'm supposed to follow? I'm stumped!

FH of course is an incredible writer and has been bragging about how he's had his done since last year.

I don't know what I'm supposed to write!! I have all sorts of ideas that pop into my head but I don't know what order they are supposed to go in or if I'm gonna look stuuuupid. LOL

Help! What is proper????

I still have to write mine also (as does FH). You should just start writing what you feel like you want to say. You can look up other vows to get an idea, but I plan on going to the park, and sitting and literally writing what's in my heart. Cheesy, I know, hah, but I plan on it

hey girls - sorry for crashing but i wanted to share mine with you guys but before i do, let me just say that you can write whatever you want to write ... make it sentimental and sweet ... and hold each others' hands as you're reciting your vows. also, make sure you have a printed copy of your vows with you (you won't have pockets so either give it to your FH to put in his pocket, or to the officiant).

anyway, here are my vows:

Craig - You are my favoritest person in the world. I love your sense of humor and that you appreciate me and my made up words; I love your ability to make me smile even when I'm cranky; I love the fact that you teach me about music and laugh that I STILL think every song is by Aerosmith; I love the way you pack my lunch before work every morning; I love our tradition of always brushing our teeth together; I love your usage of the word 'abstract'. I love everything about you! I promise to stand by you in sickness and in health, in poverty and wealth, in good times and in bad, and in all the times between! I'm looking forward to spending my entire life with you, brushing our teeth together until we have no more teeth to brush!
So for the very last time ever, I'd like to say 'I Love You, fiancé'. I look forward to 5 minutes from now when I can say 'I love you, husband'!

Re: Writing vows......

i don't have any 'formal rules' for you

I dont think there should be rules...just say what is in your heart and how you feel about your FH with nothing holding you back

i personally like vows that have a little message about you how feel

and then real 'vows' like when you create your own traditional vows like ' i promise to love you forever, to stand by your side, to make you a better person, etc etc.'

not just a blurb about how much you love him
