Is anyone else doing this? FH and I plan to. My officiant sent us different ceremony options, but I did not choose one because I was not sure if we add our vows to one of those, or just do something totally different. I guess I have to call him. He is a judge recommended by our RH, where we are having the ceremony. Can anyone share any ideas about writing your own vows? TIA!

FH and I are writing our own vows, also. We call our officiant. She told us that's not a problem at all. I just finished writing my own vow. Don't know about FH. He always wait until the last minute

I haven't even started mine. I just want to say what I feel, but I overthink it. I am an English teacher, so I think I am going to look over what I write and think, 'Oh, that's cliche!' Haha. I always read that it is a cliche to say that you are marrying your best friend. I really am, though! We were best friends since we were 14, and started dating senior year of high school. I think that is kind of a key part of our relationship.

When I told FH that I want us to write our own vows, he thinks I am crazy but I kept on bugging him and bugging him and finally he gave in. FH is not a person that like to write or express his feelings but sorry this is our wedding, he'll have to do it.

FH wants to write own vows but we havent even found an officiant. If you dont mind me asking- how much does Judge Ohlig charge. Can you FM me with the price?

we wrote our own and it made our ceremony so meaningful...just speak from your heart...it doesn't have to be poetic or rhyme...just say what you feel. Here is a link to some self written vows from 07 girls Wedding Vows...
