Who out there is writing their own vows? FH and I are...and we started a while back, but we just don't know how long to make them. Does it have to ryhme...or should it jsut be straight from the heart?? We're lost on the 'correct' way to do it. LOL. We're meeting with the Pastor on Tues...but I just wanted to see what you ladies are doing \ did. Thanks!!

Re: Writing Your Own Vows
I so wish I could do this. But I just can't. I would be a nervous wreck that it sounded stupid. I'm never ever ever secure with my work and never think it's good enough... so that would add way too much anxiety on me!
But I LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea... and i WISH we could do that! I just wanted to tell you that. I love when people do this. Although sometimes they say some strange things in them!

I would like to but there is no way I would be able to get through it at the church.

SAME HERE I'LL PROBABLY BE BAWLING!!! I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DO IT ALL!! ALTHOUGH IT'S SOMETHING THAT I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO I REALIZED THAT I DON'T HAVE THE GUTS.
NO IT DOESNT HAVE TO RHYME, IT MUST COME STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART!! GOOD LUCK TO YA

Re: Writing Your Own Vows
I think it has to be from your heart. It's not a poem...and even poems don't always have to rhyme.
if you get a few words to rhyme that would be cute. But 1st is to have it from the heart.

Re: Writing Your Own Vows
Thanks girls.... This is something that FH and I promised eachother that we woud do. We don't want something too long b/c we want to memorize them. And to be safe that we don't forget them, we will have our MOH and BM hold the index card and whisper it off to us JUST in case LOL. His is easy...he saw me in a crowded room and it was love at first site. Haha. Mine...well, it took me like 2 hours to finally meet him...and when we finally did hit it off, I was still too nervous that he was too dammm hot....that he woulndt be interrested. Little did I know huh?? lol

Re: Writing Your Own Vows
we did not write our own vows as our church did not give us that option as they run on a time line. I think it should be from the heart, meaning it does not have to be poetic. Anything that you or FH will say will be perfect no matter what.

Re: Writing Your Own Vows
That's really sweet! Make it heartfelt - don't worry about length. It should be about 30-45 seconds, give or take. And definitely don't make it rhyme. It's not a poem, just how you feel for each other.

Re: Writing Your Own Vows
i finished mine like 2 days before the wedding - DH actually finished his before i finished mine....
we both took bits and pieces from other vows that we liked and we made them our own....i googled vows and read all different kinds of vows and that gave me a lot of ideas and inspiration for what i wanted to say
i tried to write them so many times and had such writers block - then 2 days before the wedding it finally came to me....
dont give up on writing them - it will be such an amazing moment in your day if you write your own vows and recite them during your ceremony....i thought i would be so nervous to read them in front of everyone but at that moment it felt like only DH and I in the room.....we both cried and it was very emotional and sweet
