FH and I would like to.. but I'm so emotional that I don't know if I'll be able to read them.. our rabbi said he'll read them for us.. but I'd feel funny if the FH is able to read his, and the rabbi has to read mine.
I don't know what to do!

My fiance and I are def not writing our own vows....Ipublic speaking is not my thing and being that it will be such an emotional day, do not need anything else to stress me out.
If you don't think that you will be able to read them yourself, I would pass....perhaps you can write something and share it with your FH the night before, or at the RD?

I think it is sweet if you are emotional during your vows, it is an emotional day But if that makes you uncomfortable then you can just recite the traditional vows

Yeah, I actually just talked to the FH about it and it makes me anxious.. and I don't need the extra anxiety!
We decided that maybe towards the end of the wedding we'll say our own vows to each other for the camera to go on our DVD so we can look back on it and always remember it.
I don't really want to do it in front of a public audience.. the only way is if the rabbi reads it, but FH thinks its better to not do it at all than have rabbi read it?!

I don't think my nerves and emotions would be able to handle it, but I give credit to all those brides that can!
I think we are going to write some things about each other and give them to the officiant... he will then talk about what we wrote during the cermony... maybe you could do something like that?

ditto on wanting to do it but way to emotional (and for FH he will feel too much pressure) he is not good at speaking in front of crowds and will stumble on his words. So i think we are both going to give the rabbi some words that we would like to say about eachother (not vows tho) that the rabbi can speak about (almost like a letter) and then do the traditional vows. (this is my plan- hopefully FH goes with it) :)

DH and I wrote our vows ... it was the best part of our ceremony .... our guests loved it too.
i thought for sure i'd cry (since i cried when i read them to myself at home), but i was fine at the ceremony.
some people who get nervous about reading the personal vows in front of all their friends write vows and read them to each other after the ceremony (in the bridal suite) ... that's another option for you.

we are not writing our own vows but we are going to do the vows that we say to each other - not the ones where the priest says everything and we just say 'I Do'.
