writing your own wedding vows

writing your own wedding vows

Hey I had the brilliant idea that my FH and I should write our own vows..... yea now that the wedding is getting closer I wonder how great of an idea this really was... I have written my vows many times and after a few days I go back and read them and think it sounds stupid. I am finding trouble finding the words to describe how much I love him... it is hard to write... does anyone have any helpful tips on what to write and how long it should be???

I was thinking this too but decided I wont be able to do it with out crying. What I did was google writing wedding vows and a bunch of sites came up with great ideas. Hope this helps.

I had the same 'brilliant' idea. I think we'll still do it as our wedding is a lil different anyway and I don't want too many traditional things. Thing is-my FI has to do a ton of public speaking for his job-me....I get nervous talking to my staff of 4!! We're still 5 1/2 months away so I hope I can do it!! I reeeally want to!!

hmm, the only thing I will say is try to stay away from the 'cliches'... like, 'I'm marrying my best friend', or 'you are the love of my life'

don't worry about trying to sound poetic, i think when people try too hard for that then it ends up sounding cheesy :)
