Once you get the marriage license (upto 60 days before the wedding date), and have the officiant sign the license, what else do you have to do with it? Do you mail it in somewhere or have to physically drop it off? Is there any time limit / restrictions on when this needs to be done?
Not sure if this is a problem, but i'm planning on getting the license 58 days in advance and will be heading out to a 1 week HM right after the wedding. I won't have time to mail it back / physically drop it off myself within the 60 day period... I'm wondering what needs to be done with the license after its signed by the officiant..

You don't do anything with it. At your wedding, the officiant keeps after you sign it and he mails it in. Once it's processed and official it gets mailed back to you.

the officiant takes it with them after the ceremony. They are responsible for sending it in and you will receive it in the mail approximately 10 days to 3 weeks after the wedding.

something i learned the hard way......if there is anyway you can have somebody make a copy of the license after it is signed, do it!!! its the last thing you will be thinking of that day but if your RH or church can copy it before the officiant takes it, i think it's a good idea. we didn't do this (it didn't even remotely occur to me) and then we basically had nothing saying we were married when we got back from the honeymoon and our certificate took awhile to come! HTH!

Usually the officiant mails it - if they dont give you an envelope - make one yourself and stamp it - that way you ensure it gets out quick.

Generally the officiant mails it out once everything is signed - as a favor fh mailed his brother & sil license out for them.....to Albany
