I have never used those specific knives, but I currently use the Wusthof Classic knives and I love them. They make everything so much easier. I've been to a couple of cooking classes at the Institute of Culinary Education in the city and Wusthof knives are the ones they recommend.

My FH in very into cooking and even went to culinary school, He says there are no better knives than these. A little pricey but according to him totally worth every penny!!!

i am so excited to get them!

i love cooking as does the FH.. never took any classes but i think that would be fun for FH and I to do together! One thing i am big on is having good knives! i hate when i can not cut things efficiently!!! Thanks for the info :) My mom ordered them through Macy's i just hope she realized there is an 8 piece steak knife set that she was eligible for when spending a certain amount (which they are well over!)

I also registered for a chef's Ceramic knife for veggies and stuff, i hear they are SOOOO Sharp and keep their edges!!! but easily chipped/broken if you are careless and way to $$$ for a set!!!

I registered for wusthof classic 8 piece set as well. No one got them for us so we just went out to get them yesterday. They are pricey though and now my husband is asking why the carbon is so much more than the stainless steel (Henckels makes a 15-piece set for the same $$$ but they are stainless steel). Hubby now wants to save money and is thinking we shouold return the wusthof and get the Henckles b/c it comes with the steak knifes. Should I be worried about the stainless steel thing? What is the difference between carbon and stainless anyway?

I registered for the Culinar as well and they are very difficult to track down. FIL was going to get them for us through Bloomingdales but they were out of stock! So, he got us our All Clad pots instead I think we might go and buy the Culinar set for ourselves this Xmas!

All knives are different to all people- buying a knife is very much about how they feel in your hand- everyone's hands are different, so all knives are different to different people...
I have Wusthof, Sabatier and Henckle knives- and my favorites are the Wusthof and Sabatier b/c those are the ones I tried out holding b/f I purchased.
I would suggest you try & hold them b/f your mom buys them- it makes a big difference.

That is a very good brand of knives. My FFIl is a big cook, and he says that the best knives are J.A. Henkles and Wusthof.

Usually these companys have different sets of knives at different prices. You may see a 8 piece Wusthof for $299 and a 15 piece for the same price. Most likely the 8 piece is a better quality of knives. This info I got from FFIL.
