Ww is great! The meetings aren't necessary but a good idea esp ifyou don't know where to start. You can get ideas for what to eat from people in the meetings, the books they give yóu, your leader and online. Good luck!

The meetings are very helpful and being that you seem lost I definitely suggest going to the meetings. they do have cookbooks that you can buy that have all kinds of recipes in them and you can also get the WW plan that includes the etools which gives you access to recipes online

Re: WW
I swear by the meetings.....in fact, I'm a meeting leader
There are two different ways you can do WW.
1- WW Online - everything is done online. You get all of your program materials electronically, you look up points, track points, track weight, use message boards, etc. All online.
2- Meetings - everything done in the meeting room. You get paper materials of everything and you get the support of the group. You can, of course, go to sit in on a meeting for free and then decide if you'd like to join.
Personally, I need the meetings. I lost 46 pounds 2 1/2 years ago, and it's all because I went to meetings. I tried using WW Online, but I wasn't accountable enough to myself. I need the in-person support.
And remember, EVERYONE walking into a meeting for the first time knows nothing,........But that's the beauty of the meeting.......WE'RE ALL GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING

Re: WW
I don't know anything about doing it online, so maybe someone else can fill you in on that aspect of WW.
I walked in not knowing what to expect either, but it was SO non-judgemental and SO supportive. At each meeting you get a booklet that usually contains a couple of recipes to try. They also sell cookbooks, the WW magazine, kitchen gadgets and snacks at the meetings. You'll be able to gain a lot of insight from the other members during the meeting in regards to preparing food in advance and such.
I do think the meetings are necessary...at least, they were for me. It's easy to fall off track if I don't have to report in somewhere each week...it keeps me accountable!
Everyone's a bit nervous walking in that door for the first time, but it was the best thing I ever did for myself.

WW will totally teach you the right way to eat. Things that I thought were healthy really weren't the best choice. At the same time, it's flexible enough to allow you treats...just in reasonable portion sizes. No lie, I used to scribble down notes in my meetings. I didn't care what anyone thought. Just grab the bull by the horns and go for it. Is your FH interested too?

Re: WW
Hi there,
I just joined the online version. I tried the meeting ones several times in the past, and I hated the meetings so much that I just never went and so the diet never worked! I know for others though, they need the meetings, so it works differently for each person. So far I've lost 8 pounds in 6 weeks and I'm feeling a lot better and making healthier choices. I've just been looking up some typical foods I eat and seeing hte points value, and then cutting some bad ones out and increasing the good ones. I can't say my eating habits have HUGELY changed, but clearly enough to make a difference! I don't feel like I'm dieting.
They do have cookbooks; I just got their 20-minute meals one, and they have recipes online. But again, just making some slight changes to what you'd typically cook once you start learning the points is what will end up happening to you!
