How exactly does weight watchers work? I know that depending on your weight, you have a certain number of points and you can't pass those points in a given day...how many points would I have? I weigh 125 and i'm 5'2 (I hope I didn't gain ) And also, is that all that it's about, eating a certain amount of points a day? If that's the case, what's the point of joining....

Re: WW girls
well being on a program and getting weighed every week by someone is more incentive than doing it on your own...some people have the will power though...i would assume u would be able to eat 18-20 pts a day...

Re: WW girls
I've been on ww since April 25th and I've lost 18.6 pounds. Yes you get a certain amount of points based on a formula that encompasses your height, current weight, activity level and a couple of other factors I can't think of right now.
The point of joining and going to meetings is more of a support system. I have a friend that joined the same time as me and only counted her points - she never really lost and has since quit. When you go to meetings you have someone weighing you and you feel responsible for losing each week, like you would let your leader down.
I enjoy going to meetings, it encourages me to keep going that I can do it.
I only have about 10 more pounds to go and I will be at my lowest weight since high school. I feel great and I owe it all to ww.
WW meetings also teach you how to face your challenges, like bbq, parties, weddings - it really teaches you how to live a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy, exercising and making smart food choices...

I don't exercise at all, i'm a lazy bum so would it be around 18? Or do you think it would be less than that...

Re: WW girls
if you choose to do point instead of core..which i prefer 18-20 is right.. you also have 35 flex points that u can use during a week. U mark the extra points you use off each day. I usually use anywhere from 3-5 a day... sometmes more if i have an event to go to.. sometimes none.. and i dont always use them all in a week.. but it helps. i use mine to put half in half in my coffee without it taking away from my points. I lost 57 plbs total on WW. I love th program.. i went back on it now cause i put about 15 pounds back on and i've lost 7.5 plbs in 4 weeks.. getting weighed in at a meeting once a week really keeps you motivated to lose! and you lose the right amount every week so that you can keep it off much longer!!!! and it's healthy!!

so would it still be 18-20 even if I don't exercise at all?

Re: WW girls
yes.. it used to be a set point range based on your weight.. when i started i had a range of 18-23 points a day.. now its flex so u take this little quiz that asks how tall you are, what you weight, what your activity level is..etc. and that's how u get your point target now. Mine is 19.. i am 5'2 and i started at ww again at 126 plbs.. ( i wanna get back down to 108 ) .. if u excersize u can earn activity points towards your daily goal and of course it helps.. but i lost all 57 plbs without excersizing ..just doing the WW. Of course i wasnt perfectly toned but i was still happy

At weight watchers you get a point finder which helps you calculate the points based on the fiber, calories, and fat. Also there is a booklet that tells you how many points are in certain foods based on size.
If you don't go to the meetings you can also join ww online for all the info.

that's when going to the meetings makes the difference. u can buy a WW starter pack that has your dining out food book (points for fast food and restaurants ) and you reg. food journal..which has points for everything..they go by brands or by foods.. then u get a points finder that u use to get a point value...
if u use etools u can look up points values on there as well...ETA: you also get with that a journal where u write down what you ate and how many points.. it really helps you not to go over because u put down your points and add them as you go along throughout the day..then u also mark off your flex points as u use them. When i dont journal i fnd it harder to remember my points...

I haven't been exercising as much as I should, its amazing how much you can lose just by changing your diet.
If you do exercise you can add points back to your day so you can eat more or just increase your weight loss...

yea.. and i'm aleady down like 7 plbs.. i didnt lose this week because i got a monthly friend...lol.. so the scale doesnt show me anything but water weight. but i mean it happens pretty quickly.. i wanna lose about 10 more ..so if i can do 7 in 4 weeks i can probably do another 10 by my epraty on sept. 9th. If you follow the program it really does work!!!!! It's really all about portion control and changing the way you think about food.. having your chicken baked instead of fried, etc. It all makes a difference

Really? And you still get all of the same information you would get if you went to the meetings?
