WW question

when you sign up do they help you pick a goal weight? Are the weigh-ins confidential?

I used to do Jenny Craig but it got really $$$ and I was sick of frozen food. I'm looking for a change.

Your first goal is to lose 10% of what you weigh...then you tell them ideally where you'd like to be.

You weigh in where the meeting is, but they write you weight down in your book, nobody knows but you and the staff member.

After you hit your 10% weight loss goal, you sit down with a leader and set your overall weight loss goal, which is based on your height-you can pick between a range. Your weigh-ins are confidential, all that you are ever told is if you went up or down and how much, your actual weight is NEVER said. If you want you can always tell the person that you don't want to know anything and they will just put the sticker in your book-its your choice.

I'm a lifetime member, but I also work as a receptionist for them.

5% is actually your first 'Official WW goal.' BUT......that doesn't have to be YOUR first goal.........your first goal might be 5 pounds, a pant size, or even to make sure you continue to come to meetings.

After your reach your 10% goal (if you have 10% to lose), you sit down with a leader and he/she will go over the BMI chart with you and assist you in choosing your own goal weight. WW does not choose that weight for you.

Weigh ins are between you and the receptionist. Your weight is only seen by him/her behind the computer, and then it's put in a book for you to see for yourself. We NEVER say actual weights out loud......some will say 'up x pounds / down x pounds,' others won't say anything at all, period. We're actually trained NOT to say a word, but many member don't like that.

WW is definitely the most liveable program. It teaches you HOW to eat......not what to eat.

PS - I lost almost 50 pounds 3 1/2 years ago, and I've been working for them for about 3 years. I've been a leader for a little over 2 years now.

Re: WW question

The center I was going to (Wantagh) just told me my weight had to be between 120-145 (or something around that) and told me to pick a weight so I just randomly picked 135 because its in the middle. They never actually sat down with me...just told me to pick a weight. Its hard to pick an actual weight thoug because you dont know how you'll look/feel at that weight. Right now I'm 17lbs under my goal, but I honestly feel better/healthier now than when I was at my goal. So when you pick a weight, I reccomend just picking a higher one and you can always keep losing until you feel the best. Because you wont know how you feel until you're there and see how you look.

Good luck!

As a member this is DEFINATLY true. One time I asked 'How much do I weigh now?' and the receptionist said 'I'll show you. I can't say it.' Even after I said, I dont mind you can say it...she still wouldn't.

I totally respect that about the leaders/receptionists. So hopefully that makes you feel more comfortable.
