WWYD?

WWYD?

backstory:

my cousin and I have always had a rocky relationship- ALWAYS, he's 2 years older than me and well.. as much as he's hurt me, I've always reached out to him and tried my best to 'impress' him and be 'accepted' he was the 'cooler older cousin' and I was the 'annoying girl cousin'

anyway, he's the one who introduced FH and I. he's the reason that one month from today I'll be saying 'i do'.

no matter what, FH will always consider my cousin a friend.. but he knows that my cousin can be selfish and self centered.. and that's bothered and hurt FH, but he knows there's nothing he can do about it.

now my cousin and his fiance (bleh) moved out to california earlier this year, my aunt had said she was going to pay for them to come for the wedding... well now she's just paying for herself to go out there in december. so my cousin isn't coming to the wedding.

I'm not going to lie and say I'm surprised.. cause I'm not. I know my families issues and I expected this... but I will say that I'm upset.... like.. he introduced FH and I, and I really wanted him there, I'm sure he would be here if he could afford it.

anyway, my original idea was to thank my cousin in the programs.. nothing major, just a 'special thank you to bob dole for bringing us together' or something like that.

well FH doesn't want to do it, because my cousin won't be there....

is it stupid of me to still want to mention this?

I think it's a nice idea, but might be kinda strange with him not being there. Unless you mention that in your little shout out. Thanks to Bob Dole for bringing us together, wish you could be here to celebrate with us.

i was thinking that too. but FH did say that it makes bob dole sound dead... and saying 'i wish you could afford the trip' is a bit of a 'F-U'.

idk, I just think it would be nice.

my father introduced my other cousin to her hubby and she did a special thank you in her programs, and mentioned him at their reception during a speech she made (and he and I presented the gifts to the alter)... he was so happy and honored that she made him feel so special.. but at the same time, he was there at the wedding.

Idk, I was thinking of mailing my cousin a program so he could see, and besides that, his mother (my aunt) will be there and she'll see it.

Yeah, it does make him sound dead. I was thinking that as I typed it, but other than that, there's really no way to do it. You can still put him in the programs- half the people there won't know if he's there or not anyway!

i see nothing wrong with a little shoutout in the program, even if Bob won't be there ... but i also don't think it's necessary.

Re: WWYD?

Maybe you can write a brief paragraph about how you met? FH and I have a asomewhat interesting story about how we met, and I was thinking of including that in our programs, so maybe you can do the same? Something like 'Bob Dole, the bride's cousin, introduced us....' I don't think he will sound dead if you write that?

That said, it's really not necessary. Annnd, like no one will notice.
