Not sure what to do..... Do I book my wedding night suite now to lock in the price or should I wait to block off rooms for my guests and see if they give me a discount? My wedding is Oct 2005 so Im not looking to block off rooms for my guests just yet.

Depending on the type of room you want, you may have to wait. I wanted to book the JR. suite, but they told me they don't accept reservations untill one month before! Did you try calling them to ask?

No, I figured it was too early to ask.

i screwed up the negotiation with them, as in i didn't even try as i was satisfied with the final price...we are getting some suite but i forget which one...
we reserved a block of rooms and the suite all in one shot...

I was told by them that the brides getting married there had first dibs on the suites and that I would have to wait until about 3 weeks before the wedding to know if I could 'upgrade' to one of the suites if one of the brides turned it down.

Can you still lock in a price if you make a reservation now or should I use it to bargain when we block off rooms?

They wont let you book a suite now. You would have to wait. You should look at the rooms before you decide to book a suite. We looked at the suite that we could have booked and the regular rooms. The suite was so not worth the extra several hundred dollars. It was not that different from the regular rooms. So we didn't even try to get one of the suites when the time came. We were happier using that extra money on our honeymoon.

Becky, did they keep the lounge/bar open late for your guests to party there afterwards? Just wondering if it was worth staying there or going around the block to the marriott....

Re: Wyndham Wind Watch hotel
We're getting married at the Hamlet so we had 'dibs' on the suite but decided to just book a regular room instead. We were told that it was $350 a night to book the suite ahead of time, if we waited until a few months before (not sure how many) we could book a suite (if there were any left) for $250. I could have sworn that Joann told me that there were only 4(!) suites. We decided it wasn't worth the extra money since we'll probably only use the room to crash after the reception and after party anyway! Its good to know it wasn't that special anyway, I could see booking a suite if you plan on staying there the night before and getting ready there, though, just to have the extra space...

I don't know if a hotel will block off rooms this far in advance. You will have to call them and ask.

OMG, I can't remember!!! I know that we asked them to and I think they said they would, but I don't remember if it actually happened. My guests were by and large very intoxicated by the end of the wedding, so I am not sure that any of them wanted to continue to drink I'll have to ask my DH when I get home and see if he remembers if the bar was kept open.
We looked at the Marriott and it was more expensive to block rooms there. Also, I really liked that our guests had the option of staying someplace they could walk to so we didn't have to worry about people drinking and driving. And, again, by and large our guests were very intoxicated by the end of the night, so it worked out great.

We didn't book there, but we were going to. They have a total of 5 suites. 4 Jr (regular room plus living room), and one presidential that we never saw. If there is a wedding going on there the bride gets 'dibs', and you can't book them till a few months before you wedding. Joanna was really nice and definately tried to work something out. Good luck.
