So, we already purchased FH's wedding band but I was talking to him and I would really like to get him a second ring to wear to work because I am afraid of his real wedding band getting ruined. He works in wood floor installation so he obviously works with his hands a lot!
I don't want to spend too much money on this second ring. I was looking on Kohls.com and saw some that I like in the price range I want to spend but 2 of them are Stainless Steel and 2 are Titanium. Which metal do you think would be best? I want something that won't easily bend and also something that in case for whatever reason he can't get it off his finger, it can be cut off. I know one of these metals you can't cut but I don't know which one.
TIA!

Re: X-Post: FH's 'work' ring
I think the girl at Kay Jewelers said that Tungstun is the strongest ring metal. I think they use it to make bolts and screws.

We are looking at the 'work' ring right now too. My FH is a landscaper so he definintely will not be wearing a his nice ring! I went to tri-county and was told about tungston. Supposedly it's the best and it's really cheap. They had rings for $100.

any of those rings cant be cut off... thats why my DH doesnt wear a ring at all to work, his is tungsto . even if it is gold wouldnt want him to wear it to work. hes in construction/ its not worth it. i have heard horror stories.

Re: X-Post: FH's 'work' ring
I'd be scared to have him wear a ring at work if it could be cut off. If my FH was in construction I think I'd be OK if he didnt wear it working for safety reasons.

Stainless steel scratches, I'm not sure if Titanium does, but it's extremely light. FH didn't want something so light, so he got a Tungsten ring. It will never scratch or change color, but it can't be cut or resized, if your finger swells it has to be broken off (there are you tube videos on how to do it!). You can get them for under $100. For FH's ring and laser engraving (because you can't etch Tungsten) was $95!!! Check out Titanium Kay they have titanium, tungsten, and cobalt.

DH has two tungsten rings (in case he loses one ). He got both of them on Overstock for $45 each and he loves them. Tungsten is the strongest metal but it CAN be cut if necessary with the proper tools.

Don't be fooled, none of those can be cut off in case of an emergency. That's why Fh isn't wearing one to work

Titanium is one of the most corrosion resistant and stronger materials but the price is higher.Stainless Steel is a corrosion resistant materials and is cheaper then titanium.
Both metals can be cut off, titanium is more difficult but it can be done.

Would he wear it as a necklace under his shirt? DH is an electrician so he can't wear his ring on his hand. So he went to the jeweler and had him make one of those black rope necklaces that is long enough to take on and off easily and this way it's his wedding band. AND I don't have to worry about him losing a finger.
