X-post from BHB - Glenmar studio deposit issue HELP

We were referred to John Harrison and asked to meet with him but were told we had to put down a 550 deposit before they would let us interview any of their photographers. We have some reservations about booking a studio without even meeting a photographer and it seems a bit strange -- does anyone know the reason for this or have this experience? And does anyone have any info on John?

Both my sister and SIL used Glenmar (and John) and were VERY pleased with their results. Check out my SILs review for pics....NoraPearl.

$550 is not a bad deposit, but i think its strange that you have to put the deposit down before you meet the photog.

we're using John from Glenmar too. I did nto know who to use before we saw his work and woman we booked with said he was photographer for her daughter's wedding. I was ok with dep and not meeting him as I saw his work- that was just us though.
