Soooo, finding a veil may have actually been harder than finding my dress.
Everything that I put on my head just felt like a piece of fabric and nothing really made me say 'Yeah! I have to get this!'
Well, that was until I saw the veil set that completely made me lose my mind and made me actually feel like a bride.
It's a gorgeous 3 tier set. The top part is a 2 tier rhinestone edged fingertip length veil with the perfect amount of poof that I was looking for. The bottom piece is a matching cascading rhinestone edged cathedral length veil.
Everything about these veils is what I was looking for and I can't imagine getting married without them.
Well the catch is that the set's original cost is $700! I get a discount so that would bring the total to $500, but is that absolutely insane???? I would only be wearing the cathedral veil for the ceremony and pics but that by itself is $400!!!
Should I just splurge and spend the $500 to get the entire set, know that it will match and be exactly what I want?
Should I just spend $100 and get the fingertip veil by itself and see if Barron's can make a matching cathedral veil? We went to Barron's before and they did not have anything like what I was looking for and did not have the matching stone. I would probably be a nervous wreck until it comes in. This would probably be about $200 cheaper than the first option.
Should I just get the fingertip veil for $100 and get a plain cathedral veil for way cheaper?
I don't know what to do...

Yeah, I've looked all over the place and probably tried about 50 different veils.
Nothing seems to have the same shape and edging as this one. *sigh*

while it is insane truthfully i did this ... i spent a little over i think $300 for a veil that matched my dress perfectly. If i wanted a finger tip added to it it would have been more ... I did not want this because i knew i did not want to wear a veil during my recpetion ... I debated for a long time and i wasnt going to do it but my DH sold one of his fishing reels he didnt use anymore to put money towards it cause he knew i wanted it (if you knew DH he is obssesed with fishing) so i bought this expensive veil to wear just for the ceremony and pictures ... honestly in the long run it probably wasnt worth it .... but i still loved it!

personally, i wouldn't do it ... i'd rather use that 500 towards something else for the reception itself ... BUT let me share my 'secret' shopping tip with you: if you DO NOT buy it and you have a different one (a veil you don't necessarily LOVE), will you be disappointed? will you really miss this 500 veil? if you don't think you can live without it, then buy it ... the only thing worse than buyers remorse, is non-buyers remorse

Thanks girls!
I made an appt for Monday with FMIL to come with me for another opinion. (All my BM are out of state and my mom already saw it.)
I'm going to try it on again and see if I have the same reaction. It's so not in the budget, but I might have to splurge. We'll see.

i fell in love with a desinger veil as well, and i couldnt NOT have it, so i went with my heart.... if you can do it, then do it. but if you dont have the extra to spend, then dont.

$500 is a lot for a veil unless money isn't an object, but if you're working within a budget, $500 can be put towards much better uses

Sell the veil and get him a new fishing rod, and then say a prayer that you got a selfless guy.

In the big picture, a few hundred dollars isn't a lot and it's worth it if it makes you feel more beautiful that day. I say do it and then sell it after to make like half of it back :)

if you have the money go for it! you are going to have to see the veil you dont like all your life in your pics so why not just get the one that you are in love it if you can.

Re: x-post: Is this absolutely insane?
I say get the $100 veil but try to get the cathedral veil elsewhere. Or maybe not at all? I see your getting married at the RH, so do you really need it? Or do you just really want it? I'm getting married at my RH and I'm just getting a fingertip. But for me the wow factor will be in the lace edging.

I would shop around online and see if you can find it somewhere else for cheeper. Than if not and money is not an issue I would go for it.

You'll only be doing this once...I changed my mind so many times and settled on something but in the end wished I splurged....I'd go for one you really want

Re: x-post: Is this absolutely insane?
Really really think about it. Think about years from now, or even months from now when you have another use for that few hundred (like you desperately need a spa day, or something breaks in your house), and say to your future self, was it worth it? Did a fancier overpriced veil make you feel more like a bride for those 20 minutes and were the pictures that they took of you in that veil the best pictures of that day? If you do have a budget, remember anything you spend extra in one area takes away from another. Or you go into debt. In general I think we spend way too much on these things and I do try to cut where I can. Especially on the things that will be seen for the least amount of time. And I don't know about you but having ANY veil on my head makes me feel like a bride.

I've heard that Barron's at Tri-County can match other veils at a lower price. It's worth trying
