posted this on the 12 board but could really use advice from any and all.

Hi ladies,
I booked my officiant and I have the option to create my own ceremony which I love. I think it will be really amazing to write our own ceremony just for the two of us.

FH and I grew up in very religiously mixed families and neither of us affiliate with any organized religion.

However, we are both very spiritual people. I know I want to do a hand tying ceremony to honor FHs Irish heritage but other than that I am at a loss as for where to start.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions of poems or readings that speak to the power of love but are not too religious?

DH and I had a handfasting ceremony 1 1/2 months before our church wedding. We created a circle of stones, had each of the elements represented and were tied with a rope that we created using ropes of colors that symbolized different things (we settled on green, gold, red and black). We used Rev. Angela Hyle and she created a unique ceremony for us. FM me if you want her contact information!
