Yesterday I went to CVS to pick up my new pack and they gave me the new generic for YAZ.
Is anyone on a generic of BC? Did you notice a difference?
I shouldn't be worried or anything right? It is the same right?
I am gonna call my doctor tomorrow to check but I still curious about it
thanks!

Same thing happened to me on Tuesday. I was so caught off guard when I got home and noticed it was the generic. I went back and they swore it was the exact same thing and i wouldnt experience a difference. I havent so far...but it's only been a few days

Generics are the exact samething as the Brand Name....just a different label so everything should be okay.

Re: X-post NWR-Generic BC pills
Before I went on Nuvaring I always got generics. All of the active ingredients in a generic are the same as the name brand stuff you used to take. It's the changes in the inactive stuff in the medication that allows them to make it as a generic.
Nothing to worry about
ETA: And a pharmacy can only give you a generic if you doctor doesn't fill in that box at the bottom of the prescription... so most likely your doctor knows you'll be getting the generic.

My new insurance makes me get the generics. I haven't noticed any difference other than cost..they're soooo much cheaper! yay!

Nicole, I've been on the generic of Yasmin (Ocella) for several years and find there to be no difference but price. the active ingredient has to be the same so you should be okay.
If the generic is available but you ask for brand name, it could wind up costing you extra, even more than the standard copay...something to look into.

Re: X-post NWR-Generic BC pills
a lot of times the generic is even manufactuered by the same brand name company. I would give it a try for a few months. Chances are if you request the brand name you'll be paying more.

Re: X-post NWR-Generic BC pills
I was on the generic of loestrin FE and had to be placed on the regular script. I became a huge b!tch on the generic and had a lot of cramping. Described my issues to the doc and now he writes fill as prescribed on all of my scripts. Some docs will swear there is no difference but I know plenty of people who have had adverse reactions to generics. Doesn't hurt to try if it saves you money.

They switched me to Ocella from Yaz about a year ago. It's the same.

Re: X-post NWR-Generic BC pills
its exactly the same thing. active ingredients HAVE TO BE THE SAME. dye and inactive ingredients are the only differences that there 'could' be and that can not effect the drug! i have taken 2 generics for mine....and took the original for years before that.
