X-Post Wedding @ The Riviera this weekend
Hi Girls-
I posted pictures in my album of the wedding I went to on Saturday at the Riviera. Just a few thoughts:
-It was a day wedding which I usually don't like, but it wound up being really nice. The place is right on the water, and it was a gorgeous day (for February!) so a lot of people wound up going outside throughout the reception.
-It is DARK in there! It made it a really cozy setting for the ceremony, but hardly any of my pictures came out. They had the fireplaces going as well, so it really was nice and cozy. Once they opened the room up (it was split in 2 for the ceremony), the light flooded in from the wall of windows. If you're getting married at night, that won't happen, so chances are it will be dark in there the whole time. Just something to keep in mind.
-The bar was a great size. There was enough room for the 130ish guests to comfortably wait for a drink. 2 bartenders was perfect- never had to wait long for anything.
-Cocktail hour food was delish! They had a bunch of seafood which I filled my plate with
-Room setup was a little strange for us. We were kind of tucked into a little corner on the side where we could see 90% of the dance floor, but could not see the DJ/percussionist set up. The groom and GMs serenaded the bride at one point, and we couldn't see that. There was another table even further behind us and I doubt they could have even seen the dance floor at all. Make sure you put people that aren't important in that corner if you have to use it lol...we were just coworkers so I guess we were low on the totem pole.
-Food: I got the Chicken Princess and it was ok. Not my fave, but it was ok for catered food. FH got the filet and he ate every bite lol. I tasted it and it was better than my chicken. Their wedding cake was red velvet with cream cheese frosting and it was INSANE! Possibly my favorite wedding cake I've ever tasted
-Pastor April did their ceremony and she was awesome. Such a personalized ceremony for the 2 of them- there wasn't a dry eye in the room either. She did a little 'in memory of' speech before the ceremony for the bride's BIL who passed away last month. Very touching. She was really great, and it solidified my decision to go with her for my own wedding.
Ok, I think that's everything I wanted to let you know about! If anyone has any specific questions, let me know. I'll try my best to answer or find out from the bride her answers.
