Is anyone planning on taking a pill the morning of your wedding to help keep you calm?

Re: Xanax? Paxil? ANYTHING?
Girls..Im throwing this out there..but if you plan on drinking anything..do not take anti anxiety medications..most are controlled substances (especially xanax and klonopin) and should not be mixed with alcohol..be careful

just make sure you consult with a doctor and don't just take your friends or cousins or whoevers xanax. You need to be assessed by an MD first before you just 'pop one'. They do not mix with alcohol, alcohol potentiates the effects....and on top of that, you could possibly be extremely tired from it and not remember much of your big day. I thought i'd be nervous and anxious the whole day, but I had a blast and wish I could do it all again.

I have had anxiety for some time now and xanax is my crutch for only those really rough times, but i've had some thoughts as well if i would take a 1/2 for that day or the night before to take the edge off....i know my body and tolerance to it well so there is a good chance i will so that I don't freak! Just speak to your doctor about it too. I have a friend who is PA and told me about a beta blocker that helps with social anxiety or the 'jitters'.
this beta blocker is Toprol or Toprol XL. There are side effects to all of these medications. Please speak to your doctor.

also true..watch most controlled meds make you very drowsy especially in moderate to high doses..and if its the first time you take it..you should also not drive on any of these meds..

Re: Xanax? Paxil? ANYTHING?
Hey, just thought you'd like a little advice from a pharmacist!
I wouldn't recommend taking the Xanax on your wedding day unless you know how it makes you feel, you don't want to be totally knocked out or tired. You should definately talk to your doctor about trying out different things to see what helps you best with your anxiety. I would also never recommend taking anyone elses medication, only medications that are prescribed for you... you don't know if can interact with anything else you are taking or any disease states you may have. Also if you are planning on drinking on your wedding day you definately should not take any Xanax... it will knock you out. I don't think you want to be falling asleep!
Also, Xanax, and as someone else mentioned, Klonopin are medications that would calm you down right away. Paxil doesn't work in the same way, and wouldn't do anything for you if you only took it on your wedding day. It actually has to be taken every single day and takes about 2 weeks to a month to start working (it has to build up in your system). If you want to be on something like that, then you should talk to your doctor about trying it out now.

Re: Xanax? Paxil? ANYTHING?
i take a very low dosage of xanax for my anxiety attacks.. i have a pretty bad panic disorder so i feel your pain.. the idea of having a panic attack the day of my wedding (cause they come from nothing at times) really bothers me.. I am gonna wait til that day.. i won't drink anything in the morning..see how i feel before the church... if i feel sick or funny like im gonna have an attack i'll take a xanax..only because i know it doesnt make me sleepy or really have an adverse effect on me because ive been on it on and off for awhile. I would much rather relax and prevent an attack than drink.. i don't need to drink much anyway... i def. wouldn't drink on the xanax though..you'll be passing out before you even cut the cake..lol. Also make sure it is prescribed to you by your doctor and always double check with the pharmacy.. i find they know more about what you are taking than the doc sometimes..lol. Doctors prescribe and forget what else they've given you sometimes...so always double check.
I was on clonazapam for awhile years back.. i found it to be too addictive and asked to be taken off of it.. i find the xanax works much better for me..so you should def. talk to your doctor to see what you can try before the big day! i say wait it out..see how you feel that day and play it by ear. Don't take one just in case if you are feeling fine... you may not need it at all!!
