Xanax/Ambian for flying

I am going away next month and i get so anxious when I am on a plane.. I want something thats going to not make me feel nervous NO MATTER what and possibly put me to sleep for most of the flight..

anyone know which is better.. flight is 4 hours...

I take xanax for flying.. swear by it!

I hate flying and have alot of anxiety before and during flights; my hands are clammy, my heart is pounding etc.
Back in Nov. I had to fly for Taiwan (16 hours) for work and asked my doctor for something. He gave me Xanax .25mg.
I suggest taking one at home sometime before your flight so you can gauge how they effect you. I took one and felt it did nothing, so I ended up taking two for the flight.
They definitely helped me! I won't lie and say I wasn't nervous at all anymore but it was a big difference! I wasn't panicky and my hands weren't sweating, it was a HUGE help. They didn't make me sleep but they effect everyone differently. My uncle took them for his flight to Aruba and slept the whole way.

i was thinking of doing that.. taking some at home to see how it makes me feel.. i love traveling but i hate flying and I am not taking my daughters with me which make me wayyyyyyyyyyy more nervous

I take xanax to fly, it doesnt make me feel any different, but I fall asleep like a baby usually right after takeoff!

thats the part I am most afraid off taking off my ideal flight smoothhh!!!!!! got to sleep once i sit down and wake up when its time to get out..

Ooooh well i like make sure to stay up for takeoff, I have this thing where i have to hold FH's hand through takeoff and i close my eyes and hope for a safe flight. but thats the only reason i stay up.

CUTE I do the same but my husband is SCAREDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD of flying when i fly with him I feel better bc i have to be the strong one and tell him everything is going to be ok.. ( mean while I am dying inside) LOL this time I am flying with my mom which i should be ashamed bc she is also the same and she travels like 7 times a year.. which i dont get.. LOL

take-off is the worst part for me too. After take-off was over I couldn't believe that I was so calm. Definitely ask your doctor for something and you'll be ok. I recommend taking a test pill at home! I was afraid of getting on a 16 hour flight and then having some kind of reaction to the pill, as I never took something like that before.

same here until that pilot doesnt come on and says we have reached our altitude blah blah, seat belts signs come off I am not at ease..

so i am really just afraid for like the first 15-20 mins then I am ok.. unless there is really bad turbulence then I start to tense up again..

I am going to take a pill at home and see how it makes me feel.. how long before the flight should u take the pill?

the xanax just relaxes me and i usually knock out for about 3 hours from it at least.

I take Ativan and Im absolutely calm. Depending on the dosage, one on the way to the airport and one after I board and I feel fine. Without it, I am a seat clinching heart pounding sweaty will not leave my seat mess. I am terrified of flying.
