Re: XM Satellite Radio....good gift for DH? Can someone explain it to me?

My dh just got Sirius for xmas and we love it! We got the boombox so we can hear it in the house also besides just his car. You pay monthly for the service after you pay for the radio ($120) and the boombox ($100). I think it will be great sitting outside in the summer and when you have people over.
Good Luck!

Re: XM Satellite Radio....good gift for DH? Can someone explain it to me?

I have XM in my car (the only way I can get country music up here) and I LOVE IT! No commercials on most channels, or I can listen to simulcast channels like CNN.

I usually listen to E! True Hollywood Story on the way home.

ETA: my receiver can be removed from my car and hooked up to something to play through the computer or stereo. We haven't done that yet (we've had it since May) but it's doable. I'm just lazy, and have the digital radio or CMT through Direct TV.

I don't remember how much the receiver was (we had the auto starter installed at the same time) but the monthly fee is $9.99.

Re: XM Satellite Radio....good gift for DH? Can someone explain it to me?

there are kits/adapters you can install per car...

so if you have the main unit... you can use it as a walkman, car radio, home system, boombox (beach use)

i'm not exactly sure what the parts cost or go for as i don't have one..but it's simple

its a nice gift. just keep in mind howard stern is goign to sirus and not xm radio

Re: XM Satellite Radio....good gift for DH? Can someone explain it to me?

the Roady 2 Comes with the car kit which attaches to the vent in your car. You can also buy a $40 kit so you can listen to XM at home.

If he listens to Stern, you should get Serrius. He'll be on that soon enough.
