Re: Help.. Big problem & need answers

About your question- what do I write in the thank you's....

What else would you write besides thank you? I don't really think it is appropriate to aknowledge if a gift was cheap or not in the thank you (if that is what you meant)

Re: Help.. Big problem & need answers

Million-you need sleep or a chill pill or whatever. I'm sure your party was beautiful & sounds like you spent a lot of time planning it...BUT people always talk about HUGE e-parties were couples expect CASH gifts & then have a huge wedding 1 year later & want more & honestly for mortgage paying people with kids (and others)it's too much. I do agree with you that some of those amounts seem low if those people are very close to you & your Fi.
I will tell you now as others here have...you probably will not get 1/2 of what you spend on your wedding in gifts-especially based on what you've said here.
You should plan on writing gracious thank yous & remembering that you chose to have a formal e-party-your guests gave what they could.
and if you vent how you REALLY feel, don't expect everyone here to agree with you.

Re: Help.. Big problem & need answers

First of all...We had a our eparty at the local fire house in a back room. Theres no need to have a 'wedding like' e-party but that is ure choice! NY is the only state that it is expected to actually give ant kind of a gift for an e-party. If u read any kind of wedding etiquette book it will tell u this. I cant believe that u would be upset because people didnt give more then 40.00 wah..... Im sorry I will say it Ure a spoiled Brat..... I always speak my mind

Re: Help.. Big problem & need answers

I am really sorry about what happened but I have to echo the other posts.

Etiquette actually says that guests DO NOT HAVE TO GIVE ENGAGEMENT GIFTS!! Only wedding and shower gifts are required.

While sometimes I forget this myself, a party is not a fundraiser.

Can I ask what you meant by this? Are you trying to say that Newlyweds are not supposed to come over here to help?

I will give you a piece of advice that I learned the hard way. If you ask for opinions you are going to get them. If you are not ready to hear the truth, then you should not ask. The girls on this board will tell you what they think HONESTLY. I have asked for opinions before, in a vent and got some truly honest answers, that at the time really hurt to hear but in the same respect really made me stop and think.

I hope that you are feeling better today.

Hey million.. I think that you're the one that needs to grow up!!! Yes, this is for brides helping brides, but i refuse to acknowledge such a ridiculous complaint as a valid reason not to invite people to your weddeing. Take it from all the people that posted nasty replies and get a clue!! Maybe you're the one that needs to go back to the third grade...........
