Re: Watermill Thread..Come Share what you know & have done

Great idea! I booked the Vanderbilt room for July 2005, it's a while away, but I am very excited. I got a very good feeling there. I went there for a work party and the food/service was excellent. Is anybody using any house vendors and is anybody blocking rooms? What are ya doing about transportation. I was thinking about the holiday in with the shuttle, but I haven't really looked into it yet. Oh well, good luck everyone!

Hi- im getting married in 32 days at the Watermill- just picked oput my menu last week. They really are great there. As far as hotel rooms- i blocked with the Smithtown Sheraton.. They gave better prices, had a piano lunge for after the wedding when we get back to hotel and had a restaurant where we can have a brunch the next morning. Holiday Inn didnt. We are getting vans fromMcRides to take guests to the Watermill and back. Its worth the extra money for us..

I am getting married there on 11/12/04 and I can't wait. It really is so beautiful inside. I was curious about the house florist myself...did anyone use them?

I am getting married in the Vanderbilt room in May. We are pretty much done. The only thing left to do is seating, menu, cake and find someone to do my hair and makeup.

to be honest, most of our guests inthe hotel are from around here but dont want to drink and drive. I am staying there as well. There are about 25 rooms blocked with Long Island guests but they don't want to drive...

believe it or not, I offered it to them.. I had a card made up and put it in the envelope. YOu would be surprised how many people actually stay. But they dont charge for unsued rooms. You have to block ten rooms at a time though..every hotel is different though :)

Yea! I booked the Vanderbilt Room for August 28, 2004. We also blocked rooms at the Smithtown Sheraton (thanks Kdelace!). Its a really nice hotel and its close to the Watermill. The prices were good too! We are still working on booking transportation for our guests. The rest of our vendors are listed in my profile.
I'm getting so excited!

I was a Watermill bride 3-23-03, we had the Astor room and the Wedding was in the Vanderbilt room.
I did not use any of the house vendors.
The service was great, my parents were so happy.
If I can help anyone with anything please let me know, best of luck to all of you!!!! You'll be so happy you picked the watermill!!

I am getting married at the Watermill in Sept 05. I am excited about this thread since I know I will have many questions with the planning. So far I have only booked the Astor room. I have not even started with DJ photographer, or florist!

Re: Watermill Thread..Come Share what you know & have done

I got the cake that I wanted.. It's a swiss dot ivory fondant. So pretty.

The menu is:

Appetizer: Long Island Vegetable Tower
Salad: Caesar
Intermezzo: Raspberry
Entree Choices:
Chateau Briand
Poulet de la Princesse
Salmon alla Griglia

we didn't really do many extras xcept a coffee and cordial bar...
Would you believe that I made my own menus and forgot to put intermezzo. Oh the crap that we worry about.
I can't tell you enough how patient and gracious they are there. We are doing candles, runners, menus, favors on the tables. I gave them a details on how I want everything and they are so accomodating. Who did you book with? We booked with Tom. He is also going to be our maitre' D.

Re: Watermill Thread..Come Share what you know & have done

this was my cake, I wanted something very simple. My only complaint about the Watermill was my cake. I had asked for it to be stacked on top of each other not tiered. When I saw the cake and told Bob (our Maitre'D), he ran off to check my paperwork and tried to call the bakery, but at that point, it was to late; and really not a big deal. He gave us a card to the general manger for the Watermill. I started to write a letter but I'm really over it and now looking that all of our proofs really happy with the cake!
(I did not pay extra for this cake)
