I don't think the cake was Fondant, I think those cakes were extra $$$, It was sugar/butter cream??? I think? With chocolate cake, and layer of chocolate mousse and a layer of strawberries, so it was like you were eating a chocolate covered strawberry
this was our meun
first course - Hawaiian pineapple royale (fruit salad)
second course - spring garden
main course - chateaubriand chicken verdi asian salmon
dessert - wedding cake and watermill sundae
standard drinks plus added Heineken and the cappuccino and cordial bar

Re: Watermill Thread..Come Share what you know & have done
My hubby and I were extremely happy with the watermill and even a year later people are still telling us what a great time they had at our wedding.
Our menu was as follows:
Appetizer: LI Vegetable tower Intermezzo: Lemon sorbet Salad: Mixed greens Entrees: Prime Rib (my husband had this and ordered another dinner to go since it was so good) Chicken Verdi Asian Salmon (I had this and it was delicious) Dessert: cake and cappucino mouse
The other great thing about the watermill is that the waiters served drinks to our guests even though we had our reception in the vanderbilt room with the bar. It went over very well with alot of our guests. I you went with the watermill you have nothing to worry about. They did a great job.
We also had the cappucino/cordial bar thrown in for free since my brother got married at Chateau Briand the year before and it is owned by the Scotto Brothers. Brian was our manager but Tom was our maitre'd the night of our wedding. both were very nice to work with.

Did anybody get an ice sculpture? Do we get a choice? On the website they had a wine rack made of ice that looked really nice. Also does anyone know if the fondant is extra for the cake? My last question is, is anyone having an1.5 hour cocktail hour? I am having an hour added to my party and was wondering if I should add 30 minutes to the cocktail hour and 30 minutes to the vienese? What do you think? Thanks!

Hi I'm getting married in the astor room in april. I'm using all of their vendors and i have nothing but great things to say about them.
if you have an opportunity, meet with samantha, she is so sweet and helpful. i actually ordered my invitations through her. she was soooo nice.
last night i met with jack from jack and rose (one of the vendors) and picked out all of my flowers.
I'm using jeffrey studios for the photography and videography and would definitely recommend them. I met with Alan who was also soooo nice!
i can't believe the wedding is in 4mnth.....i keep thinking i'm forgetting something!

Hey Ladies. I am another Watermill bride to be. I booked with them for July 24th 2005 in the Astor room and hopefully an outdoor cocktail hour if weather permits. It's really beautiful out there and they set up so nicely. I have one question. for those of you who had the Astor suite, is it comfy? I did not get to look at it because they were being used the day we went to see the place. For all the past Watermill brides PLEASE POST PICS!!!!!!!!!

this is the best picture on my computer of the Astor suite. Photographer took great pictures using the two mirrors you can see in this picture. There is also a long mirror in the other corner and a small bathroom. I was very comfortable!!!!

Amykay, you looked gorgeous!!!!!!!!! and the suite looks real pretty. Denised07, I have the Astor room and for the same reason you do, my list is actually getting close to 200 but they needed me to guarantee 175 for the Vanderbuilt room and I really did not want to get in to that since you can never be too sure so I went with the Astor and the max. capacity is 210 comfortably the manager told me. Anyways, I think if you really want to have the wedding there you should just go wtih it. The room is smaller but it really is pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! book fast because when I went all the sundays for July 05 were already taken

Is it a given that you have the option for the cocktail hour to be outside (weather permitting), or was it supposed to be in the contract?

Re: Watermill Thread..Come Share what you know & have done
Jenny2Penny you do have a choice of where you want your cocktail hour. Bob was the person that helped me and he told me to call him that morning to tell him if i want it inside or outside. He also said if you do chose it to be inside and your guest want to go outside that is fine it just won't be set up out there.

should that be written in the contract, or is it a standard operation at watermill to have that option?

Re: Watermill Thread..Come Share what you know & have done
you know , I really don't know how that works because the day I went to see the place, I told Bruce (banquet manager) that I wanted the CH outdoors and what they put in the contract for CH was lounge/garden so that if weather doesn't permit it , it would be held indoors but I don't know if that's the standard procedure or anything. By the way, are any of you guys going to the wedding showcase being held there on 01/27/04? I am

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! I'm glad you decided to book with them. I actually met with Bruce the day I went to see the place and I really loved the way he did his presentation. He really knows what he is doing. He went over everything on our menu and I mean everything!!!!!!!!!! The day we decided to go leave the deposit, however, he wasn't there but I really wanted to book fast so I met with Brian and he did our contract. I'm so excited!!!!!!!!! FI is not really into the whole wedding planning thing but he wants to look at pictures and the menu they gave us constantly. He fell in love with the place because he said it look romantic, cozy but above all very traditional and elegant. He didn't really like any of the other places because they were too 'big' or building-like and he's really a very low-key kind of guy. Well hopefully I can meet some of you at the showcase. How I don't know since I don't know how you all look but we'll come up with something.

I got married at the Watermill in September. My wedding was beautiful and wonderful thanks to the Watermill. From the very beginning they were so nice to us. Brian was our manager. He is the best! He worked with us and was open to all our ideas. Tom was our Maitre D' and he is alos great. The whole staff takes really good care of you and your guests. I had the vase with flowers for the ice sculpture. It was btwn that and the wine rack.
