I believe you will. My full, married name is that of a 1970s sitcom and, I am not exaggerating, when I say my name everyone makes a comment about the show.
However, I do not believe that these comments should deter you from naming your child 'Laura' if it is a girl. It is a pretty name.

It is a very pretty name. Being 100% honest here because you asked us to be I would think of the soap couple when I first heard it - but I would never make a comment!

I personally think of GH but I doubt most people would. Luke and Laura are from the 80s, it shouldn't be a big deal.

I would think of Luke and Laura but I am a huge GH fan. I would not let this deter you from using this name at all. Most people (hopefully) wouldn't say anything and even if they do, they'll only say it once! So if you like it - go for it!!!

That would be my first thought, but I wouldn't dwell on it. Use Laura if you love it!!
I know people with children named Brandon, Dylan and Kelly...

Re: Baby name question - be honest
I feel your pain. We got so many comments about Damien's name(The Omen )
My thoughts were that this was a movie from the 70's and his peers would have no knowledge of this movie. Only adults make comments and if they are stupid enough to make a comment when he is old enough to understand. I'll clobber them
If you both love Laura I say go for it. But if you have a third don't name he/she Lucky

Exactly what I was going to say, as soon as I saw it, I thought, ah, GH. But I would NEVER make a comment to you about it! However if I were you I'd drive myself nuts and always refer to them as Laura and Luke since to me, for some reason that doesn't make me think of the show. If you love the name, go with it, people who will comment on that will find something else to comment about, they always do.

Re: Baby name question - be honest
It was the first thing I though of, but I don't think I would comment on it, especially if you get in the habit of saying the names in the reverse order - Laura and Luke. If you're really concerned about it you could use Laura as a middle name.
On a side note, my Grandmother once told me she always hated her name Elsie since it reminded her of the Bordon's Cow. And I had another friend who changed his name from Alex to Bruce because he found out his parents chose his name because it sounded good with his brother's. It always bothered him that his name was not chosen for him, but because it sounded good with his brother's name. So you never know how a child will react to their name.

Re: Baby name question - be honest
i've never heard of 'luke and laura' so you'd be safe with me
My sister's name is Marlena...and our maidan name rhythms with Evans (Marlena Evans from Days of Our Lives)...but what can you do?
I think the reference is diminishing...so it might be the obscure comment...
would you think a Lora...Lara...Lori...Laurie...Lauren?

I didn't think of GH when I first heard it. IMHO, people are always going to find something in a name to have a comment on. When I was growing up, people called me Nancy Reagan and Nancy Kerrigan. Especially Nancy Reagan because a boy in my class was Ronald!
Go with what you like!!

Re: Baby name question - be honest
I think people will comment on it and if any other kids find out they will probably tease them. I have two brothers - Tom and Gerry. Yes, like the cartoon!! Tom is also frequently called Tommy. So, I was tortured with that Kenny Rogers song about Tommy and Becky when I was younger.
But, you know what, I was always amused by the Tom and Gerry thing and if I wasn't being teased about Tommy and Becky, then it would have been something else.
If you love the name Laura, then you should name your baby Laura if it is a girl. Just introduce them as Laura and Luke. It sounds very different from the 'lukenlaura' that we all heard so much about.

I would go for it. I mean so what really...it's like all the PARENTS would know - but not kids of their age group. I love the name Laura. That said, my friend is a Darren and his sister is a Samantha - and he says it never bothered him! Darren just had a Will though, and they always had their hearts set on Grace for a girl, and I think they might be re-thinking that! But I dont' think they should. I think it's neat!

Honestly... you'll hear the GH comments. But you know that! If you love the name - use it! Steve and I were going to name our daughter Sarah Elizabeth (if Sean was a girl ). Steve actually suggested we use his middle name, not mine for her. Sarah Lee. Uh, nope.
Of course, I think you're having a boy.
