If you don't care much for them, it sounds politely dismissive, which is what you were going for. I think it sounds fine, a good way to let them down easy.

Re: UPDATE: Inviting my former co-workers/members
I don't think so at all. My FH used the 'close & intimate wedding w/ just family' for all of his coworkers and some of his 'friends' that go out of their way to let him know that they can't stand me (even though they barely know me). He mentioned to his 'friend' over a year ago that we feel as though he's cold/distant toward and about me and he still doesn't even try so FH doesn't want him at our wedding for that reason. Good answer IMO!

Definitely less rude than ' don't forget to invite us to the wedding'
Some people!

It's not that I don't care for them, it'sthat with such limited space our relationship is not close anymore. I have not seen them in over a year.
Is it ruse or harsh???
Not rude but a little dismissive IMO.
I would just have added something to the effect of 'I wish we could all celebrate together' or something that indicated more that you WANTED them there but just couldn't do it...
But I don't think you should worry about it, it's totally fine...

I think it sounds good...if you don't talk to or see these people anymore...don't let it bother you so much.

I agree it sounds good, but would add a little something also. But it's fine really, especially if these are people you no longer see or care to see!

Re: UPDATE: Inviting my former co-workers/members
Hi there ... I was the one in the same boat as you w/ former co-workers. I think it was presumptuous of them to put you on the spot like that (in email). Even if your response was slightly curt, so was the request for invite.
If you're concerned, I'd follow it up with a phone call and just explain that you wish they could be there but it's just not possible and you needed to keep the list to people that you and FI see on a regular basis.

Re: UPDATE: Inviting my former co-workers/members
I think it ends somewhat abruptly, like they are supposed to figure out that they won't be invited. I think you should add another sentence to make the message clear. IMO

Re: UPDATE: Inviting my former co-workers/members
I think you did the right thing. IMO, when she mentioned how they get together for lunch all the time (and I'm guessing they don't invite you to that) it was very rude on her part. And then to be expected to be invited to your wedding??? Sounds like maybe they belong on your Christmas card list - at most.

i think thats fine.. especially after you canceled the larger hall, to switch to one with a smaller minimum..
