What kind of painting - not house painting? Maybe oil painting? If so, there was a small gallery on Deer Park Avenue in Babylon Village that used to have classes. Also, Michaels runs some beginner classes.

Danielle Paints....Hopefully she will see this post and respond.

On the corner on Old Northern Blvd and West shore road in Port washington there is an art studio on the right side of the street. Just as you are going to turn off of old northern blvd. There is no sign or anything, but it is an art studio.,...and that is the place that Karen32 is referring to

about 3 years ago, i went to the art league when it was in the old place, now it is right off the northern state by the dix hills exit...anyway, my bf and i took a figure drawing class with charcoal and looooved it. it was amazing and although $$$, it was worth the investment.

There's a place called Riebe's on 110 in Melville(maybe too far north for you though). My Mom is an artist & I know she used to take a class just for fun & to brush up on her skills there several years ago, think the same instructor is still there. Not sure of price.

My mother is taking those Donna Dewbury classes and she's doing really well with it. She also took another painting class through continuing ed and to me, her artwork already looks amazing! I would be interested in doing this as well (as soon as my schedule frees up a bit.) Sounds like fun!
