Cheryl don't feel bad, you didn't do anything wrong! Maybe you can call her and let her know meant no harm, and were just trying to be helpful. If she choses to stay mad at you, than just ignore her, she's being petty.

You don't need this kind of stress right now

Maybe you could explain to Mike that this was NOT an intentional slight at your MIL. I think we get so wrapped up in being super organized and taking care of everything, that when something needs to get done we just go ahead and do it.
