Honey...
I don't even expect people to show up for mines...because people want you to go to everything they have...but if you only have one special occasion...they have all the excuses in the world.....
I think, I will try to invite at least 40 people...!!!

I know how you feel!! My mom just told me that only 2 of my friends have RSVP'd to my shower! But I still have lots of family coming!![]()

I had a lot of no's for my shower too. If it is in april/may timeframe I found out that it is hard because there are so many communion's/baptisims/confirmations ect. Don't take it personally, I am sure you are very well loved.

My mom invited 68 and 35 came. But, many were out of town and a couple were sick that day.

we've been discussing this in the May board but i'll respond here too. ![]()
same thing here. 30 something invited, about 19 coming. I understand its on a sunday and a lot of people are out of town, it was planned poorly (they only sent invites a month ahead), and its very close to wedding.
but there are a few people we are very hurt about. FH's friends parents that are like second parents to FH can't come to wedding due to a graduation, the mother promised to come to shower. But 'something came up' and shes not coming. One of my step aunts isn't coming... she lives close by, theres no excuse.
and i'll be upset if some of the groomsmens wives/girlfriends don't come. We go to ALL of their functions, even when we've been too poor to take the trip!!!

BUT i'm still looking forward to spending time with the people who DO care enough to come.

i know this will happen to me too because mine will be during the winter and my parents are at that age... they just bought a condo in Florida ALONG with 20 of their other friends that did recently... they go to Florida for the winter and tehy won't be here (my parents didn't get that far..not until after my wedding and they are not retired yet...1 more year)

Don't feel bad- this is expected to happen.
I just had my shower on April 3rd

I am so sorry to hear.![]()
I am having similar issues myself lately. I am not expecting a lot of people to come to my shower either and it hurts. I am still looking forward to it (if it ever gets planned) and I know I will be so touched by the people who did show and care enough about me that I will probably forget about the hurt quickly. My suggestion is that you try to do the same!!!

I think mine is going to be small too. Most of FH's family lives in Poland, so it is mostly my family and friends and that is a small group. I am kind of depressed about it, too. I am not planning it nor do I know the actual number, but I expect it to be half the size of most that I have gone to and it won't reflect the size of the wedding.
On the other hand, I think they may have something for me at work and one for FH at work. So maybe it will all work out.

Try not to get upset about it! My MIL invited 40 people and only 2 of them came!!!!!! It was OK for me because I didnt know any of them anyway. I was just happy to have the people there that I cared about... (on my side)

Don't worry, I anticipate only 1/2 showing up for the shower, so I have a list of 40, thinking only 20 will show....then to add to this, my mother told me on Saturday and women at my age (41) don't get showers b/c we should have everything already! Do you agree?? I don't - I have only 2 sets of sheets, not one complete set of pots and pans, no china, .....I couldn't believe my own mother (wait, YES, i do, it's my mother) saying that... I never expect a full house on invites, i always anticpate 1/2 of the invited....
