First off, never feel silly for expressing how you feel.

I do think that it really could not hurt you to talk about your feelings with a therapist....he or she will just simply help you sort through them that's all.

And of course, we are always here for you should you need to vent.

thanks so much I appreciate the warm reply! It's great to know that we have these boards to just vent and support each other when needed!

I noticed that you just got married and maybe it could be the 'down' after the long High you've been on.

You might want to try keeping a journal and just writing what's on your mind. I think this will help you come to terms with what is making you so sad and writing is cathartic.

I don't think that you should be embarrassed if you wanted to see a therapist. They are there to help!

I'm sorry you are having such horrible mood swings. Have you ever had these feelings before? Did you live at home with your parents before you got married? If so, maybe the change is making you feel depressed. Did you grow up with a lot of siblings and now you are in an empty lonely apartment or house? Did you have pets at home and now you don't have one?

All of us newlyweds need to be patient with ourselves and our husbands and families as this is an adjustment period for all of us.

Give yourself some time and lean on us if you need us. We may need you sometime too.

It sounds like you're mildly depressed. Have you ever felt like this before, or is it just starting now? If it's only starting now, it's probably just a situational depression where something else may not just feel right at the moment or you're just getting used to something different.

Either way, if it's not so bad that you need to see a therapist, try to do things that make you happy. Or plan something to do that you can look forward to. Maybe you miss planning and looking forward to a wedding.

thanks again girls. it's nice to know that I'm not just crazy, that what I'm going through is understood by at least one other person aside frm myself ;)

juliet - to answer your questions, I am from a large family. A LOUD large family in NJ to be more exact, and up to when I moved out here to LI 4 years ago - I was alwasy with friends or family any free time I had. I've always made time to visit my NJ family and friends, but you really made me realize that it's just not the same, and I really miss that close contact all the time! it actaully makes sense now that I think of it - what spurred my post this mornign was hearing about my one friend's weekend and her hanging out with our other two friends. I was so jealous (not in a bad way) and wished I coudl have been there with them too. Most of the time I'm pretty well adjusted to being the only one out here, but there's times liek today where I really just miss them all being a 5 minute drive away...

I think I will start writing in my journal. Yes I hav a really nice one - that I've yet to start using! :) Thanks again girls - it really means a lot to have such nice feedback :)

You'll get through this. Everyone deals with change differently. Your sadness may pass easily or you always have small bouts with missing your family but no matter what, you are normal.

I have felt that way before, that was when I worked at my last job. I remember reading your posts about being unhappy at work. A job change may help to cheer you up and relieve stress.

after my wedding I went through the smae thing..I even spent an entire afternoon crying on the floor of my bedroom..My DH thought I was nuts...
It could be alot of things....talk to a good friend..use that journal..(aren't you the someday I'll be a writer??LOL)
read, talk a long walk through a nature trail...
but in all seriousness if it does perssist see someone...
There's no shame in talking to someone about your feelings..

That's really funny because this morning I emailed my friend asking her if she's ever sad for no apparent reason... I've been going through the same thing for the past month or so, and couldn't figure out what was going on because I'm usually very emotionally stable... until it dawned on me... for the last 7 years I've lived in downtown Philadelphia, with very easy access to all my friends and my brother... used to visit my family on LI at least twice a month... but, a month ago we moved to our new house in the 'burbs... and I just started studying for the bar so I have no time to visit anyone... don't get me wrong, I LOVE the house (I DON't love studying)... but like someone said... it's an adjustment... and when being social and spending time with your friends and family is an essential part of who you are, it can really effect your mood once it's gone... my advice is that you make a distinct effort to reconnect with your friends and family... hopefully it will help you feel grounded again (I know that's what I'm doing the second I finish this exam!!)

I don't think I need a therapist or anything and I feel silly even thinking I do.

Feel silly thinking that you do?

Yeah, just that I'm normally not prone to these feelings, so I feel that it would be silly to talk to a therapist about it when it might just be a passing thing?

Nothing wrong with therapy, but if you don't want it, it won't do any good.

Someone mentioned that you are aspiring writer. Maybe now is your chance to throw yourself into it.

Are you in a creative job?

creative job - no :( I'v been meaning to get back on the ball with my writing - it's just very sporadic (sp?) right now. When I do write, I feel great though, so I just need to make more of an effort to do it instead of watching Food network all the time!

I know what it is like to be starved for creativity at work. I started my job thinking I would have a some creative opportunities and 4 years later I am finally getting some cool editorial projects, rather than just pushing papers and 'managing' the editors

You should write, it will make you feel good!

I get this way sometimes. Married life just seems so final in a way--I can see the rest of my life in a straight line, which is nice, but just not so exciting. I used to feel like I could pick up and move whenever I wanted to, or quit my job...And all of a sudden there are all these grown-up responsibilities...A mortgage, a fiance, car payments...It's scary and somewhat depressing, that this is what it will be like, for the rest of our lives...

Anyway,
