Have you listed it with stonybrook university? We listed our appt. there and got so many students interested in it. We selected one student from japan who is got to be the best tenant ever! So quiet, pays on time, neat, nice, and the best yet- he goes to japan to visit his family all summer and long vacations and still pays on time!

Just thought you may want to look into it!

Posting on Campus is a great idea. Thats how my FBIL found his tenant in lake grove.

Jola you should see if the college has a newsletter or something that is distributed to the faculty & staff. The university my mom works at has one, but they might only let staff list in it. Not really sure.

Yes, we thought about that. Since our house is close to SUNY and Suffolk County Colleges.

I am just afraid that whoever our tenant may be might have constant parties. I really don't want loud music, cigarette buts or worse, beer bottles laying around or anything.

We stated, no smoking, quiet, tenant wanted. It sure worked!

If all fails with the pennysaver we will try that.

We had one college guy call us yesterday and asked if he can move in with a roomate then he asked if his mother can move in for a while.

Who knows what else he would have asked the next day

craigslist is FREE.

The people that we got off the site were late twenties/early thirties. We're still showing the apt so we haven't rented it yet, but we're only considering fully employed stable people.

craigslist is gaining in popularity in NY, but its HUGE in San Francisco. I used it for everything when I lived there: I found roommates, jobs, sold/bought stuff - its great!
