learning to pick your battles early on will only help you in the long run - slap some kisses in a bag to appease the old battleaxe and then belch the alphabet.

I went through the same thing w/ my FMIL for our e-party. After asking the LIW girls and consulting w/ friends and family, I decided to go without the favors. People don't really care about them anyway!

Why not do favors that double as CPs? Like Votive candle holders with a label on them with your name and date? Keep them lit for the party and then people can each take one home with them.

I'd go with CP before favors....honestly. It's a little late for both...but at least you can give the c-pieces away, unless you make the CP something that is a holder for favors Does this make sense???

For example: your CP could be a large vase holding some large flowers, like sunflowers and Gerber daisies. Then before the end of the night, the CP can be cleared and each stem (or a few) can be wrapped and given to guests as they leave.

we didn't have a formal E-party....we hate formality. and I was told that if you have the e-party you shouldn't have the shower....I don't know anymore....

I've only been to 2, one in a backyard I mentioned before & one in a house where we all got drunk, sang karaoke & made a mess of the hot top.
It was just friends & her parents & siblings though. I think they had a classier one for the family.

Im made very nice, and easy coverings for hershey bars. On the back, I put our proposal info, written like the nutritional info....I got nice paper...it was very easy, and people loved it!

A friend of mine had the same thing for her e-party. She bought cheap vases from michael i think and the morning of, very early, she went to the price club and bought tons of cheap flowers that they have and put them in the vases herself.

It was easy, cheap and didn't take too long.

I thought I would put in my 2 cents.
My sister threw me an E-party in her backyard and it was casual. She got decorations from a party supply place (we had a luau theme- everyone wore there Hawaiian attire and got a lei.) I would not have had favors, but my friend offered to do them (and pay for them) and she did a great job. She put together small bags with a variety of chocolates. The thing that was nice was that we gave them to people as they were leaving, so it gave us an opportunity to say a formal 'goodbye and thanks for coming' which was really nice.

Just relax. If you don't have the time or the $ for this, don't worry about it. I doubt the guests will care that much about it.

Personally, I'd nix favors over centerpieces. But that's just me.
