Re: Help me decide....What would you do?

I won a cruise earlier this year...YEAH, right, GREAT!

But who should I choose.
(mind you I have no really close grilfriends or a family member,,,that would be an obvious choice) (gonna cost $400 each for 5 day cruise to western carribean, so technically not totally free)

1.
A girl friend who I have not been friend with more than like a year or so.
We do have fun when go out.
We did a weekend trip once before and was lots of fun.
She might get on my nerves by day 5.
Had a little issue a month or so ago about her boyfriend calling me (too long to get into again)
I don't think I'd be her first choice if she won.

or

2.
A person that I have a good time with.
Known each other for a LONG TIME
I can just hang out with and can do, say, wear, eat, anything infront of.
We did a cruise together before and had amazing time.
We can find humor in anything and always be creative/adventurous and find someway to amuse selves.
Not sure where relationship is going.

is #2 the ex?

Is this the ex??? If you feel like you'd have a better time with him (or whoever it is) then I say choose that person.

But be careful because there are a lot of feelings involved and cruises can be romantic!

That's what I was thinking. If you don't know if you want to hook up with him though, the close quarters may not be the ideal situation...If you want to pursue a relationship with him, I say go for it!

I tried to keep it vague so no one judges.

Aww--it sounds like you know what you want--no one will judge you for wanting to have a good time!

now i may get flamed for this but what the hell

i wouldn't take the ex because of the close quarters involved. You said yourself you're not sure where you are in life right now. From a male perspective, if it were my ex and she invited me on a cruise and we were not back together it would to me mean 'a 7 day booty call' with no repercussions because we never discussed getting back together. There'll be drinking on the cruise and then stuff happens that you can't take back. Then if he still decides he doesn;t want to get back together, you're hurt all over again and back to square one.

I'd plan the crusie with a friend or family member.

I somewhat agree. I couldn't personally handle hooking up with an ex (which is probably inevitable given the close quarters) and then have it go back to limited or little contact, and no established relationship with him. I think it would hurt me more.

Even if #2 is your ex, I say go and see what happens. And by the end of the trip you will know what is going on for the future.

exactly, like i said, if an ex who i was not back together with invited me on vacation, that would say that she was lonely and needed a 'fix'

Hi Jenny... here's my cruise story -- maybe it will help you choose...

I actually went on a cruise with an exBF. We had the cruise booked for a year.. and we broke up in July (one month before we sailed.) We were stilll sorta friends.. there was a lot of pain between us though ... but we decided that we'd go anyway. We had one room. That was a little awkward. But he slept on the sofa and I slept in the bed. During the days - we did manage to have a good time. We kinda did our own things mostly but had dinner together each night. We also managed to talk about what our problems were a little bit.

I think doing this kept us from drifting totally apart.. and here we are today getting married in 36 days. I don't want to imply that this is the right thing for you to do... just what my experience was doing a similar thing.

If you guys are still friends - I don't think it would be a bad choice. Especially if the only other choice is a not so close friend who will be on your nerves by day 5!!

Good Luck!

It's already gone there
I would not be hurt if it does not work out,,,,if it does not work out then it's because we don't work together as a couple (without expecting people to change who they are). He's ready for it to go further.

people never change who they are

But will this overshadow just trying to have a good time on the cruise? If so, maybe I would change my previous answer

Re: Help me decide....What would you do?

I completely disagree with the automatic assumption of a '7 day booty call' by the ex.

But I would be concerned about taking the ex because it's comfortable. Even if it's not romantic, I think as long as you keep falling back into the comfort, you will not move past the old relationship.

I'm not saying ex's can't be friends, I just think your situation is too recent to not be trying to make a cleaner break.

Unless of course, you are looking to rekindle ... I can't remember all the details of why the wedding was cancelled and the break-up, but who knows ...
