You should go to an ENT to get your throat scoped. I don't mean to scare you, but it's possible you can have a polyp on your vocal folds.

I have to agree. I know several singers that have gone through a similar experience. It is not the most fun experience, but you should definitely visit an ENT. If you allow the problem to continue , you could possibly damage your voice longterm. Most people recover from polyps with treatment and time. I know you are a trainer. Remember that your voice is a muscle. It has to be treated and trained properly or you risk strain and even permanent damage.

I have had my voice change over the past few months,,,to the point where I have none, can't hold a note (when I sing on my own ). No one recognizesme when I call, or jokingly call me Demi.

I HATE IT!!!!

So I figured if anyone ever suffered from this.

or you may have nodules. your job may require you speak a lot and loudly. Remember good vocal hygiene! (it's a PDF)

After I had Mono back when I was 16, I had that for almost a year! I became used to it and liked it after a while...The Dr. said it was strain, stress causes you to breath differently and thus your throat doesnt fight off germs and bacteria as well and gets hit the hardest. I think over time my voice came back, I didnt even notice it...But now its back a little..I was sick a few months ago and its still not(voice) back to normal.

You should have it checked out regardless just to make sure thats all it is.

Definitely have it checked out. I used to sing and I have a very good ENT in manhattan. She works on all of the opera singers and celine dion, etc..

I don't mean to scare you either....but I used to lose my voice all the time. I ended up having nodules growing on my thyroid that were rubbing on my vocal chords. You should definitely have it checked out. Mine ended up being thyroid cancer...and here I was thinking it was no big deal that I lost my voice.

I majored in Speech Pathology, and I know that a hoarse voice, change in voice, or voice loss, can be like I mentioned earlier a vocal nodule or polyp on your vocal cords. Did you strain your voice by yelling or singing??

I had the same thing, luckily it was not thyroid cancer, it was just polyps, but there were 7 of them!!! I still have a scratchy voice, but it is a lot better than what it was!
