I definitely would forget about him!

Why not try listing your apartment with a realtor? It is no charge to you, the buyer pays the commission and the agent will do all of the work for you including background checks.

I wouldn't do it and once a tenant is in it can very hard to get them out, please make be careful!

I was thinking it sounded even shadier also, but if you did the research...

Anyway, it still sounds suspicious and I would forget about him. Once a tenant is in it's extremely difficult to get them out! Try another real estate agency; they may not all have limits on how long they will advertise for you. Good luck!

If it's the same accident I am thinking of- my friend's brother in law died in that accident.

Regardless, go with your gut. There are so many people looking for apartments, you are bound to find someone you will be able to trust.

keep looking.
once you have someone in your house renting it is VERY hard to evict them.

i agree i would keep looking or go with a real estate agent. im pretty sure the tenant pays there fee and most of them do background checks or at least run credit ratings

I have 2 apartments that I rent -I ALWAYS do a check on the tenants...and neither of the apt's are in my house..


if the apt is in your house - i would TRIPLE check them.

Also if the guy shows up w/o money - he will probably do it again oneday.

The Apt. is beautiful - an agent will have no problem renting it - and they will do the checks for you!!!

Bad Tenants are hard to get rid of, especially if he's already showing negative signs and he hasn't even signed a lease!

I would keep looking, who knows if this guy will get his act together and in the meantime you could find a better tenant. If you don't find someone, then no harm done.

oh and there are real estate agents who will let you list with other agents as well. That way you can list with more than one agent.
