Re: Milleridge Cottage OR Carriage

My min is actually 175 at the Cottage (Sun night). Sat night is 200. Unless you pick a very off peak date, I don't think they'll lower it, especially since they have the Carriage house for smaller weddings. Sorry.

Re: Milleridge Cottage OR Carriage

I thought maybe you could benefit from my look at the Milleridge. I liked the Cottage very much and a family friend had 4 of her children's weddings there, so we went to look. We told the person we spoke with (I think Leslie?? She was very nice) that we were inviting 140 and expected about 120. She said that we did not meet the minimum for the Cottage and showed us the Carriage House instead.
She stressed very emphatically that the maximum absolutely, positively was 132, including bride and groom. Due to Fire code, they cannot accommodate any more than that. The reasons I decided against it was that it was possible that we could have as many as the max and I thought it would be a little cramped- we would have to have tables of 12, which didn't really appeal to me, but maybe other people don't mind that.
The other disadvantage for me, was that if the weather was too cold to have th CH outside, the CH is in the same room as dinner, with people sitting at the tables where dinner would be served. The wait staff continuously clears plates. Again, I thought this could be a little cramped. If you were having a wedding of 80-100, I think it could be really nice, but our #s just didn't mesh.

The Carriage House is lovely, I went to a wedding there and it seemed like they were close to maximum capacity because it was a bit tight.

There are lots of great halls for weddings in the 130-150 range. I am getting married at the George Washington Manor, (which is owned by the Milleridge folks) and they have a room that can accomodate 150. I am having a smaller wedding, so I am not using that room but it's a lovely place.

We are having it at the cottage on a sunday and our minimum was 150, but we expect more. I wouldn't do with at the cottage if your around 150, it a big room and it will look empty. I had heard very good things about the GW manor and it's sounds like a perfect size for you

Re: Milleridge Cottage OR Carriage

Kdrainey asked them something similar, she was abel to havea lowminimu, but itwas very off peak.
( she didn't book there)

I forget all the details

We are having 88 people at the Carriage House,
9 tables toal, a mix of round &oval.
We invite 109 people including 'andguests'
If you really want the Milleridghe, you may be better off with the Cottage, guests list usually end up larger than you think.

But I agree with Tracy, try GWM,it is the same owners--similar style, similar price.
