Well, in a way ALL of us knew we were gonna marry our FH/FW, but we didn't plan the wedding before we got the ring, so I don't see how this is so unreasonable.

It's not MY choice that I'm not planning, it's my family's request, and as a respectful person who is grateful for all they've done for me, I am honoring that request.

Please do not assume things that you don't know. I'm sorry if I took your comment the wrong way and/or you were just trying to be funny, but it really upset me.

This is the last I'll be posting on this topic, thanks to those who actually made me feel like I'm not alone.

NIk, you didn't make it clear in your post about the reason you were waiting for the ring, so in DJ's offense, he didn't kow WHY you were waiting for the ring, if it was personal choice, or what.

nicole, don't listen to djpill, he is just trying to start drama and you don't need that right now. i fully understand your position. we are all here to listen and talk things out with you. hang in there, i'm sure things will start to look up soon.

i completely understand how you feel too!! dont worry about it!!! my brother often does things like what your sister is doing, and sometimes it really stinks... especially when they mess with milestones in your life!

Sorry to hear you're upset...try to keep a few things in mind...he is probably trying to surprise you. My FH asked me the day after xmas b/c he knew I was onto him...and he bought the ring seeral weeks before.

Also, if you really feel hurt, it I would talk to him.

Try not to let your sis ruin things...jealousy is an ugly emotion.

He proposed... a ring was presented... I don't see the problem? There are tens of thousands of people in this world that get married under the same circumstances.

People in this thread are making it out that its against the rules to start planning until she gets some bling bling on her hand. Thats just the wrong attitude to have... regardless of what family thinks.

And Jenn... you should know all about the family situation and when its time to just say 'f-it'.
