Re: Regrets about a BM - long

I was in a very similar situation. Luckliy it was before any dresses were ordered, and I backed out of her wedding. All she cared about was her day and nothing else. A few months later, another bm backed out of her wedding because she could not take it either. I would honestly talk to her and if she is going to upset you on your day, I would ask her to not be in your bridal party. The lsat thing you want is to be upset on your wedding day because of a selfish person that you most likely not remain in contact after you are both married.

Re: Regrets about a BM - long

With my situation, it's tricky because her mom passed away 3 months ago, so I can understand her not being into a wedding.
Problem is- my dad also passed away before her mom so I can def. relate. Also, my dad passed away and 1 WEEK after was her engagement party. I was in no mood to party, but I went because shes my friend.
She has done nothing but complain being in my bridal party and I asked her if she wanted out and she said- do you want me out? I said of course not, but I understand you got other things on your mind.

It came to a point where I reminded her all I did for her wedding and she snottily said- we're not playing tit for tat.

She is a college friend and a lot of college friends will be at the wedding. If I say something again now, it will be very awkward, but you're right, is this someone who I want in all my pictures? I did try talking to her already, so I don't know what else to do.

Any advice?
There is actually a little bit more drama with it, but too much to mention. That's the problem- Who needs all this unnecessary drama????????????

Re: Regrets about a BM - long

It is really ridiculous that we have to deal with people like this during the stress of our wedding planning. I could totally understand bms being upset if I was asking them to do a lot, but all i ask of my bridal party is to go for fittings, get their shoes and I wanted them all to decide if they want their hair up, down or half and half. I really don't think i'm asking for much. My sister (one of my moh) will be planning my bridal shower with my moms help i don't even thinkshe will ask the other two girls for help so really there isnt' much for them to complain about! Whatever happened ot friends being happy for you and supporting you?!! Did I miss something here?

Your situation is a tough one. I think the question you have to answer now is do you want her in your bp anymore? It seems like you are leaning towards no. You have already tried to talk to her, I think that maybe the best thing to do is to ask her not to be in your wedding. I know it is easy said than done. I talked to my bm and I feel better because she knows how i feel but honestly i still have major doubts and in some ways i wish she would back out, but i know she isn't going to do that.
I think you need to decide now what you really want... her in your wedding and dealing with her complaints and stress or her not in your wedding.

Re: Regrets about a BM - long

Thanks for your advice.................. I think I will feel it out.
If she complains to me once more about anything, I think I may say- look, I am sorry you're not happy and then address it.

It's just a lot of stuff. I am curious to see if she attends my bridal shower. She already told me she can't commit to the bachlorette party, even though I flew to Vegas for hers.

I get so mad talking about her, but if I let her ruin this happy time, I will get more mad. I don't want to look back at this time a few years from now and let one person ruin it for me.

I will have to see how she handles the upcoming events.
Thanks........

Re: Regrets about a BM - long

Hi - Here's a view point from the other side. I actually kicked a BM out of my wedding one month prior. I haven't spoken to her since and I have ZERO regrets. I 'sucked it up' and dealt with her for the entire year prior - it was always one problem after another. The rest of my girls were PERFECT and they all hated her. The turning point for me was when she didn't show up to my bridal shower. She told my MOH that she would be away the whole weekend on business but, then, another BM saw her in town the night before - thus, she was obviously lying. She didn't mention the shower but, had time to comment that 'can you believe she is having her bachelorette party and then her rehearsal back to back - ruining two weekends in a row' lol. Even worse, she never called after my shower to see how it went or apologized for not coming or sent a card or gift or anything - I didn't hear from her for two weeks! That was it, I couldn't take the lies and jealousy any more.

Your wedding is the most important day of your life (or one of them) the way I felt was that I only wanted people around me who wished me the best - there is enough negativity in the world - I didn't need to get it from my friend and BM.
