oh, I just did a reverse search on the number listed in the ad, and the catering hall is Verdi's in Westbury. I know where it is but I've never been there. Any opinions? Thanks again!

I wait tables Fridays and saturdays..it completely helps me because that is my metro card money and lunch money, spending, parties..etc..I don't touch my monday-friday checks at all

The ad was actually for coat room checker and bathroom attendant.... I don't know if it's two seperate openings or if they want one person to do both? Well, I'm going to call in a bit and find out - update to come!

I seriously doubt you would be able to do both bathroom attendant and coat check at the same time. Ad is probably for two different positions.

I work two evenings a week from 5:30 to 8:00 for an employment verification firm. It definitely helps; with gas, speding $$$, paying off my cc. I used to do more before the baby but I do want to spend some time with her since I have to work all day to boot. I've been doing various 2nd jobs for about five years now (two Market Research Co.'s and this job that I love). If you can handle it, I say go for it!

I totally agree with that statement..try it out..it is your carefree job, so if you don't like it then quit..that is what gets me through the weekends working, that at anytime I can't handle both I will just quit the second one. With that attitude it is hardly a job and I have fun when I am there..(DH is the manager, my sister is alway a server, and my other sister is the hostess) I did not go to high school in NY, so it also is an outlet to make friends and to go out after work

thanks everyone! And Janice, you brought up a good point too - I am not originally frmo LI, so all my friends are back in NJ. Somethign liek this would be a nice way to maybe meet some new people too

I'm calling soon - wanted to wait until lunchtime when it's a little more quiet (and not as many nosy-noses around either!)

good luck hon! I found my 2nd job has helped alot. i got it originally to pay for the wedding but have kept it, although whittled down my hrs to one day now (and dh works that day anyway so its not so bad!). its nice to get that little extra money to pay for stuff for our house, or a vacation we might want to take, etc.

i work in a college library on saturdays still just sitting at a desk and since i am in school earning my 2nd masters, its great b/c they literally pay me to do my schoolwork! its hard sometimes b/c i would love to have two days off a week but its not so bad when my dh and i think about how much it helps us in the long run.

I really loved doing that, although it was always a 2nd part time job in addiiton to another aprt time job in college, but I always ahd a normal sort of steady job with an hour;ly rate to pay for gas, books, etc, and then the money from tutoring was MY money to buy gifts, clothes, gym membership, whatever. It's a really good feeling

I just called - have to pick up an application before they'll say what the hours/pay is!! DOH!!!!! Well, maybe I can stop by after work tonight to check it out - it's very close to where I live anyway.

They couldn't just tell you over the phone? It would save you the time of filling out the app, and save them the time of reading it!

Good luck though, it sounds like a good 2nd job. Tips are great in the coat room!

that's what I thought - but they also sounded very busy, and I'd rather go in person and hear about the job without feeling rushed

I heard from someone else here - I think it might have been MIchi? - that the coat check is a great part-time job, so I'll see what it's all about. I could really use the extra cash right now!!!

yeah, definitely. I just went to an e-part at the meadow club in january - the coat check girl was about 25 yrs old (had an e-ring on- lol, I notice these things), and she was pretty much getting a dollar a coat. There were 100 people at the party! PLUS her hourly wage - that sounds good to me.

Cool!!!! I went last night and the people I talked to were ssoooo nice! They said they are just taking everyone's name, # and availability hours now, and once they whittle down the list they'll call back the people they want to hire! I was only there for about 10 minutes or so, but I really liked the managers I spoke wih - they seemed like they would be nice people to work with!

I'm excited - I hope I get this, it would be awesome weekend money and I can finally start paying off my cc debt. And it would be nice to be around weddings again too
