Hard question. I know I would never be able to ask anyone for money, even people who actually owe it to me. If she's not taking your hints, I think you should assume you are on your own for this one. Sorry I couldn't be any help.

How about showing her the contract and telling her that you dont know if you can come up with the money by the time they need it and hope that she offers up her share. Otherwise just come out and tell her.

I'm a pretty direct person and I would just come right out, sit down and tell her that you have booked the party place, and this is what WE need to take care of.

Just before the party, again, say 'Mom, WEneed to go and take care of blah, blah blah'

If she is the one that started this, I would continue to keep her involed. Not sure if I helped you any, but again, this is JMO
