Ok well all i am trying to say is when you have a baby you cannot predict when they will throw up ....all babies do that when they are newborn.
But I think I misunderstood you before ....I thought you posted that you went to visit the new BABY. so if you purposely went to see the baby then of course you would hold the baby and yes there maybe a chance the baby would spit up so dont where nice pants!!!!!
But if they came to see you that is an entirely different thing.
My point is that there are worse things to be upset about then a baby throwing up on you!
This topic just annoyed me......Vent about people with kids

Not all people with kids are like your friend and I resent the way that is worded...like we are lower than you because we have kids that you need to vent about us!!!!!!!!!!!

Whether or not Sue wanted to hold the baby, I think it was rude how she was treated after the baby puked on her. The mom didn't seem to care. Yeah - I've been puked on by babies and I know it's pretty common, but I can understand her annoyance in how she was treated after the fact.
As someone else said, it's a no win situation - if you say that you don't want to hold the baby - you're going to get beyotched at.

I have no kids, but I can understand how moms might mistakenly think 'hey, it's just a little spit up, no big deal!'. What they forget is that it's THEIR kid, their own flesh and blood, so of course they don't mind a little spit up! Neither would we, from our own kids. But when the kid who just threw up on you is NOT yours, it's just a little bit different.

My SIL is famous for this kind of behavior.

I didn't let anyone ever hold my son!!!! Not unless they begged me and practically ripped him out of my arms. So not everyone with kids is like that. I would never ever impose on one of my friends to take care of my child so I can eat!

1. Sure there are worse things...There are PLENTY of worse things that could happen then the things that are vented on these boards...THAT ISN'T THE POINT! This was HER vent. AND i have to say i understand...It may not be anything to that mother or you but it is to some..AND it is rude to think that..oh well...these things happen...I wear 150 pants and if a kid threw up on them and ruined them i would be pissy too!

2. THere is nothing wrond with the title either....Vent about people with kids...I want to vent a LOT at times about people with kids...She wasn't saying ALL PEOPLE with kids!

Does anyone remember the sex and the city episode where Carrie's shoes disappear from her old friend's party, Carrie realizes how much $$$ she shelled out for the friend's life events and kids, then registers for shoes and the friend finally buys her a new pair?

People make different choices in life that bring them to different perspectives on the same situation, that's all.

Yes - there are worse things to be upset about, however, what upset me about this was the mothers response to the whole thing.
As a mother myself - I would also never impose my baby on anyone, if they wanted to hold the baby they would ask.

DH's sister in law is the same. she's always handing her baby over to other people.

I don't mind holding other people's kids, but what she does is she'll hand her kid off to you while she goes off and mingles with other people for a while...

I remember last year we were at one of my DH's nephew's communion and her oldest daughter who was 3 at the time really had to go to the bathroom really bad and se goes up to her parents saying 'i have to go to the bathroom really bad'.....the father said he couldn't take her cuz he couldn't just walk into the ladies room...this is the part where the mother should take her...instead she huffs and puffs and was like 'uggh, i just sat down to eat my meal'...so DH's sister ended up taking her.

I felt bad for the daughter cuz she honestly had to go really bad...aweeeeeeeeee.....and the parents are arguing over who should take her??? meanwhile the girl could have gone on her dress while waiting for them...

you should have said vent about my friends bad behavior

For the record I would NEVER do what that mother did
Being a mother is the greatest gift God has given me and I just defend that

Ok the title was vent about people with kids but if you read it and realized what the vent was about you would realize that It only had to do with 'certain' people with kids. No reason for you to be offended unless of course this is something you do/did and in that case then Sue could have taught you a lesson.

Does a kid even 'spit up' at 8 months? Some people want to be mothers and Some don't want to be mothers. Some want to hold babies some don't want to hold babies.

Im sorry but you just gave off that 'Im a mother im perfect' attitude. Even a lot of the mother's on here thought that was rude of the woman to do. If Sue wanted to hold the baby she would have asked it also would have been nice if she freaking asked hey sue want to hold the baby? BUT SHE DIDN'T

I babysat for my Cousins daughter. She never 'spit up' It was either barf or nothing. But not a tiny little spit up dribble out of her mouth.

I've held a baby once. I generally don't like them, they are squishy and scare me. I would be pissed if someone threw one at me (which is how I wound up holding--and nearly dropping--the one thrown at me at my rehearsal dinner). I assume I will feel differently when and if I have my own. Who couldn't love a mini me? 'Til then, I'll stick with puppies.

But I do know my mom never let anyone else hold me other than my father and grandparents! A little overprotective but you can be sure I was never p!ssing off anyone else by puking on them.

Kris..every kid is different. This baby could've just finished eating and maybe being handed over from person to person, just left him/her feeling queasy....
i don't know, but some kids spit up all the time, and some hardly ever. it just depends.

Her attitude would definetly offend me.

It drives me nuts when parents allow their children to run around YOUR house and let them get into things like it is no big deal.
Drives me nuts!!
