Re: Now my company wants me to die...

I've been wondering the same thing. I think it depends. I am consideringleaving my job & my apt & not sure which to do first!

If you get pre-aproved for a mortgage, thenswitch, I think your pre-approval is no longer guaranteed.

If you apply for a mortgage, after just having a job a few months, I have heard your interest rate might be higher, but I am not sure how true that is, esp. if Mr. Boots has a stable job.

As for co-cop boards, it depends how picky they are, but it is probably not a big deal.

Isn't this good news though? No more Slider & Crazy McCoworker?

Hmmm I think our mortgage guy said that since we would have qualified for our mortgage under either one of us alone (though we did joint), losing a job wouldn't affect it. And we aren't . We are more .

I looked into this a while back and I was told that as long as you stay in the same field of work and get a new job it doesn't matter. I'm a teacher and at the time we were looking at houses I was losing my job. They said as long as I find a job in the same field they considered that continuous employment.

So, as long as I stay in the field of 'sucky', I'll be fine?

And we were pre-approved using my income because Mr Boots has baaaaaaad credit, so we're screwed in that respect.

I hate my company so much!

Thanks everyone!

Ooooh, I think I have baaaaaad credit too Is his really, really baaaaaaaad or just really baaaaaad?

As long as it is continuous, you shouldn't have a problem. I work for a mortgage co....but do not know a whole lot...and I know if you get a job paying more, they might have to average your past income with your new income. As long as you don't have gaps in employment, it shouldn't be a big deal.

if you explain that your company phased out your departement, through no fault of your own, i don't see a problem with the pre-approval. but i would stay and not switch (unless it absolutley necessary), moving around doesn't look good on a mortgage application

You should be fine as long as you stay in the same field with your new job.

People change jobs all the time. Its nothing new to banks.
