I'm with Mr. Boots. I dont' mind a little dirt...but I'm not gonna *ahem* evacuate in a hole I've had to dig myself

Are we talking about Boy Scout by any chance???

It is so dead on here today! No other responses!? OK, I hate camping. I like central air and consider it roughing it that I have room air conditioners in my condo! I like a soft mattress and hate sleeping while feeling rocks digging into my back! I hate bugs.

I am with Mr. Boots, I think, but DH's idea of roughing it is walking in sweats to the continental breakfast in the hotel lobby. Needless to say, camping may not be in our future as a couple. I think he would truly be miserable on a camping trip.

I will only consider camping if it is on a beach and there is a BBQ nearby and beverages provided I'm such a priss, I NEED to have a shower every morning and I really do like using a toilet bowl (versus a hole)!

Outlets and running water are must haves.

Yes indeed... BoyScout. He suggested a camping expedition with a big group of people. Mr Boots and I were all excited until he started describing the 2 mile hike to the campground!!

I vetoed that idea and stipulated flushable toilets... not latrines, not outhouses, actual flushing toilets.

I even let showers and hot water slide... it's just a weekend after all. I can stink for 2 days, but I would rather drive a hot poker into my eyeball than not have a civilized place to tinkle.

Ah, but based on your recent bathroom woes, flushing toilet doesn't necessarily mean much

I don't think they have civilized campgrounds here...we were talking about possibly going camping last weekend and when I mentioned bathrooms DH was totally like And seeing as I've actually seen his MOM 'nip to the loo' behind a tree while on a walk trhough a common or heath or whatever they're called not just once, but twice in the past year, I'm not taking any chances!!!

My last camping trip was in cabins upstate that had eletric and a bathroom. But the showers were in a separate area in the park. There was refigerator and all.

That is what I call roughing it.
Nice big bedrooms
it wasn't expensive either.

Roughing it to me is a motel instead of a hotel

Ive never been camping...I think that its probably not for me...I do like overnight stays on my dads boat...but it has all the conviences of home...so its far from roughing it.

Re: Camping...how campy will you get?

I don't do camping.
Reason #1: I hate bugs - but bugs love me, so I'd come home covered in speckles of ichy-hell.
Reason #2: I hate the outdoors. Outdoors = Sun. Sun = Lori turning red (not pretty). Sun = heat = Lori sweating, which I prefer not to do.
Reason #3: Peeing in a hole - no thanks!
Reason #4: My bed is much too comfortable to abandon for a sleeping bag on top of rocks.

The closest I've gotten to being outdoorsy was when my friend made me go hiking once...he was lucky I was exhausted by the time we reached the top of the darn mountain, becuase I almost pushed him off of when he asked 'Look at that view - wasn't it worth the hike?' ummmmmm, no!

There's not enough $$$ in the world to get me to go camping!!

I used to go backpacking when I was younger and loved it. I enjoy roughing it as long as I know that it is for a limited time.
