My mother, as well as my BMs, are all in black - I think it looks AMAZING!!!!!!!

I think the most important thing is that she is happy with her selection and that she is comfortable

I agree that black is classy but she should have cleared it with you first. As for me, I do not want my mom to wear black! I want her color to compliment my BM dresses.

My mom wanted to wear the navy dress she wore to my brother's wedding 5 years ago once she heard my BP was wearing navy. I begged her not to wear that color. I felt that she wore new dresses to every other wedding of her children and my wedding was not an event to recycle a dress. Also, I felt that she shouldnt match, rather coordinate or complement the BP. After many trials and tribulations, she finally got a dress in a wine color and it is gorgeous. She is excited to get something new. She is always invited to other people's formal weddings and Bar and Bat Mitzvahs where she could wear her dress again.

Mom wore black to my sisters wedding and she looked lovely.

My mom wore black to my sister's wedding in 93 and my brothers in 01. To totally differnet styles. She looked amazing in black. It is very elegant. I don't think it is that big of a deal as long as they are not in white but then again it is personal prefenece.
