Re: Another $1000 for a Vegetarian Entree?... WITH POLL

I would call your family who is vegetarian and let them know they can request it. I'm a vegetarian and my friend whos getting married on Oct 1st just emailed me and told me the vegetarian options and told me to request it. Honeslty, it made me feel so good that she thought of me.

I would put it on the menu as upon request and have them request it.

I think its a matter of if you can really pay for it--make it a matter-of-fact decision.

Just an FYI, my mother and many on her side are vegetarian, so we made our third choice a veggie friendly option. For some reason that night I wasn't feeling like a heavy meal so I ended up choosing that dish---so it really worked out well!

ok so if u dont want to have to pay 7 pp...why dont u make the menus yourself andwhen you write it make the upon request bigger...they cant tell u how to make your menus up???

then u shouldnt be charged. it is still upon request but u can put it right unde the entree list just as big as the entrees just next to it-upon request

I think i fyou have a majority of people that are vegetarian you should take another entree off to save the $1500. Honestly I don't think it is right for a hall to charge you $7.00 a person to add an entree to your menu when maybe only half or less than half of your guests would actually eat the entree. Also I would just put on your menu vegetarian entree available upon request. I just don't think it is worth paying extra money to put on the menu. JMO

WHOA! $1500 to add it as an entree choice? I wouldn't pay it! not a chance. IMO, not even close to being worth it just so you can print it on the menu.

I agree. I don't think it matters where it is on the menu as long as it's available. Plus that little difference will save you $1500. I think it's worth it.

So if you take away another choice and replace it with the vegitarian, then it won't cost you anything additional? I would do that then. Because if you have that many vegitarians, you won't need so many choices. People won't miss the eggplant parmasean or something like that.

Or, make it available upon request. i personally would not pay the extra money. But, I don't have any vegitarians coming either.

I personally wouldn't pay the extra money. I think that even if you didn't put it on the menu, most people just assume that there is a vegetarian option at weddings. I think that putting 'available upon request' is perfectly adequate.

I personally wouldnt pay it - I think your hall has a lot of nerve charging you extra!!!!

Definitely take another choice away and replace it.

Save your money or splurge on something you really want!! Most affairs I have been to do not list the vegetarian dish, but it is always available. I am also having a silent vegetarian option.

Hope this helps!

I would def. get rid of your chicken selection and replace it with the veg. entree. My venue told me, on avg., less than 10% of guests pick the chicken.

Shame on them!

I hope Venetian reads this and decides to change their mind!
This will turn off a lot of future brides!!!

Good luck!

Geez, they're really being ridiculous. I guess they think if the selection is listed as a choice then more people will request it than something that is just 'vegetarian dish'? Still, it shouldn't cost that much extra, or they could just throw it in -- really, how much would the veggies cost?

I would either replace one of my entrees, especially since you have so many vegetarians, or just do the small letter thing.

my fiance and a number of firends are veggies and we are having it upon request. I ambuying a cake from outside for them because alot of them dont even eat sugar eggs or milk..We aren't having it on the menu but I think its realy unfair for them to charge extra to put it on the menu How much could that actually cost? debbie

I understand their point. If they put it as one of four choices, then many non-vegetarians may request it. Say it's a pasta with vegetables and you are having 100 people...They probably would need to have 50 meals made up just in case that many request it. In small letters, not a choice everyone would request, they might figure on a much smaller percentage. Still, if you know many are vegetarians, perhaps get rid of another choice--steak or chicken?

I wouldn't spend the $ to have it on the menu...I would put that towards a chocolate fountain which is very vegetarian friendly!

I can't beleive the Venetian Yacht club is being so difficult. Sorry.
I personally wouldn't pay the extra money. Offer it on the menu and that way it is included. It is the best result. Your guest get the option and you don't have to pay extra. Good luck!!
