Re: Rosh Hashanah Dinner?

Most of the experts are probably at temple right now.

There aren't restrictions as with Passover but there are traditional foods - turkey and brisket being the top two.

Are you looking to bring something appropriate or were you just looking for the menu you can expect?

Thanks! Just looking for what to expect. Mr Boots just called and said we were invited to Rosh Hashanah dinner at his uncle's so now I'm all disappointed because I was planning on making chili and was all amped for that!

And I loathe brisket...

I've gone to a friend's before and we had turkey and noodle pudding, which was really good!

there are traditional dishes yes, but for the most part you can eat anything. It's a celebration of the Jewish New Year.

I say-bring the chili-although I don't think it goes with brisket!

usually matzah ball soup and a meat dish- like turkey or brisket. and kasha varnishkes.
and apples and honey and a round challah (w/ or w/ out raisins). and stuffed cabbage.
and wine (kosher so u can say the blessing).
and kuggles (noodle, carrot, potato-white or sweet-puddings...)
and tzimis. and gefilte fish w/ horse raddish.

but if you're sephardic... the menu is entirely different.....

My mom made pot roast with baked potatoes, salad, some kind of gross carrot concoction and chala bread.
